Now , I am a fully vaccinated, mask wearing , social distancing person and an advocate of these things BUT for him to say (in flowery terms) that to follow taking such measures is following the direction of God and Scripture is a missaplying of those Scriptures.
He says to listen to him and his seven companions is to listen to God.... disobey and be disobedient to God.!
I call that blasphemy.

That is a rallying slogan .... like a general firing up his troops by saying " For King and Country we stand and will always be victorious!"
Nobody takes that really literally. Everyone knows that casualties occur and the outcome is uncertain.
Its just words, padding and filling .

every day someone somewhere is being disfellowshipped.
after the trauma of being cast out and shunned by relatives and friends, many exjw's start an investigation of the watchtower society.. they begin to collect every scrap of evidence they can get their hands on to prove they were lied to.. some of these archives may come in handy.

i live in a country that has had reasonably low levels of covid.
bearing this in mind i’d like to discuss my thoughts on 2 jw funerals i attended during this time.. (funeral 1) even though there were no governmental restrictions at the time, the official stance of wt was the halls were shut down.
despite this the local congregation decided to open the hall up for the service and a reception at a private premises.
Funerals/ Memorial Services can vary enormously among the JW movement. Of course they all contain an element of “witnessing for the Kingdom “ but the better ones slip it in gently . I have been to some cringe-worthy services and some that were done respectfully.
I tackled the speaker after a relatives funeral for trying to be funny in it.. Jokes are not appreciated when you are grieving. Others have been better. The last one agreed to play conventional music rather than WT stuff, at the bereaved’s request.

That letter is spot on . It tells the truthful and accurate state of Watchtower teaching but in a way that they would never do. It is what it is.

When I was a Secretary ( UK) The instructions were to keep old cards for 8 years.
After 26 years , unless you are personally known at the Hall, there would be nothing to d/a from.

I am sure this church use it as bait to talk to the kids and their mothers , but I guess it works....
i ask this now because i have been living in this town for the past 14 years and the circle of friends i have now i have never let on i am an ex jw.. i`m talking about 30-50 people at least.. not that the subject has ever really come up , but i think they would be shocked / amazed that i was a ( i hate this word ) a "devout" jw for 32 years going around knocking on peoples doors trying to convert them to the religion .. yet every now and again i get tempted to.. how say you ?.
Haven’t met many social contacts since I left work. My work mates had known meas a Witness. I found it much easier to talk about things as an ex dub than ever I did as a Witness.
When you are “in” and you feel the need to speak up, there is always a barrier to be overcome, a moment of hesitation.......As an ex, it just flowed freely . I enjoyed anti - Witnessing.

They will not dissuade a parent from reporting but that is as far as it goes.
Unfortunately they do have a reputation for not cooperating in police investigations. I have read criticism before by the police in U K.
I am sure that whatever the local elders may feel about it , they are forbidden by Legal Dept. At Bethel. When I was a Secretary I remember reading a similar instruction and I resolved then that if ever I was involved in something and the Police wanted to interview me, I would speak up and tell them what I knew.
Why shield a criminal from justice ?
