Yes they did bring persecution on themselves by such things. However , that Watchtower was 1959 . That is 65 years ago . They have changed the tone of their message since then .

I think I remember this. As a teenager I was present at Twickenham when we did a resolution. The wording was so long and complicated that I lost the plot completely. At the end the speaker said “ All those in agreement shout ‘ Aye’” . So I shouted but had no idea what I was resolving to do…..

I never had an Armageddon car but I had Armageddon dental treatment. It was spring 1975 and I came home from the dentist and told my wife.. “ Well, that is the last time I shall ever have to go to the dentist! “

why does it matter whether or not the end of the world ( (armageddon) is near?
if it was next week, next year, next decade, next century?
what is to be gained by knowing how close or far it is?
What matters is not what God will or will not do…. but the credibility of the WTS . They have been proclaiming the imminent end since the turn of the 19th/20th century, they have fixed on dates that have proven false … all the while insisting that their statements are “ spirit directed “ .
The result has been that generations of followers failed to plan for a future or get any further education.
They are proven to be false prophets , little better than William Miller and other failed Adventists.
there are assignments on the life and ministry school now where they are suggested to just talk to people without giving a witness.. they are supposed to practice starting conversations with strangers and listening to them to talk about whatever they want to talk about .

jws don’t look like jws anymore and now they don’t actually preach.. you could get bearded men with sweaters or other such tops and women in pants or slacks coming upto you in the park or on the street and starting a conversation with you.. then you hear them listening to you and talking about whatever they think that you wanted to talk about .

my father is now in a nursing home due to his health issues kenneth mckie had many friends in the widnes kingdom hall and lost there contact .
I am sorry to hear of your father’s circumstances, I cannot help , not being from that part of the world . We need to make clear that this site is not frequented by active Wiitnesses , rather those on the opposite side of the fence .
