Blood Transfusions - "One Shot Deal"

i've just been reading the watchtower's blood policy and i think i've got it.

the wtbtss give you a "one shot" deal.

if you accept a blood transfusion once and express sorrow and regret, you're forgiven and can remain in good standing.

Enlightened people like us can think this through and see the position for what it is.

When you are in the bosom of the cong, and subject to the thinking of the order, it is only possible to think this way;-
"The Organisation knows best. I believe that Jehovah will be hurt and angry with me should I take blood. I will not get everlasting life.
Eternal benefits, or tempory life in this system? I chose for eternity , and since I love God - I want to do his will"

There is no rationalisation, no working out of self interest.I also find that any dub I know still believes that any blood product is sure to give them Aids, Hepatitus, or something equally nasty.
When that is all you know it is no surprise they will act as they do, as we would once have done.

this is addressed to the jw lurkers.....according to my brother, who is a devout jw, no "good" witness would be found on this site....but since he's a jw, we'll assume he's naive....... dear jehovah's witness:.

my family, whom i love, is comprised of jehovah's witnesses.

i was never baptised, as anything, but attended meetings for years, until i turned eighteen.

How did we believe it ? How did it seem right? but it did at the time.

I firmly believed that "worldly people " could not be trusted. They only SEEMED nice on the surface. etc .

im just throwing this one into the ring to see what you think.

i know the wtbts are always beating the drum about not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together as some have the custom, but do they really want jws actually talking with one another when they arent around to monitor the conversation?.

if you think about it, jws would appear to have had their opportunities for social intercourse severely curtailed.

Please don't invoke any more nostalgia for the old assemblys of my youth. Happy days, even though I now know we were totally off the wall - at least it was fun!!

Before I stood down I wrote a letter to Bethel describing the shortcomings of the current arrangements. I had had to do the service meeting item about how wonderful it was to take your own food and lug flasks of hot water for your own tea.. They sent me a smarmy reply implying that I was not appreciative of "Jehovahs arrangements". Ho hum!

Oh Happyman, get real! come Sunday your team will be displayed on the smorgasboard of the world stage , as you meet real opposition . Roll on the World Cup!!

Shortlisted for the career at Burncoose/ Caerhays

for those of you were enquiring how my job interview went yesterday for burncoose nurseries and caerhays castle in cornwall uk, the news is that it went very well.

just received a telephone call notifying me that i've been shortlisted to the 2nd round of interviews, in 2nd place.. i want to work here so much, 3 month trial for starters with a 3 bedroomed cottage thrown in amongst a 30 acre woodland garden, very nice.

what i've always wanted.. so, fingers crossed, if i get it, any ex wits needing some peace and quiet over the summer months ahead, you'll be more than welcome to visit should you require a breather / respite from all your everyday stresses.. take care all of you.. yipppppppeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ..... celtic mark.

new level of family nuttiness, need advice, help

hopefully someone out there can help me with some advise or direction .

i was raised jw and disassociated 30 years ago.

my family all remains jw so i'm very used to all the usual "world is ending, you're going to die" rhetoric i've gotten from them over the years.

The response ,or lack thereof , would be entirely dependant on the level of of common sense shown by the elder you called.

i once had a sister in our group who had a phisical illness and during that time I was pleased to deal with her d/fd daughter. i reasoned it was a tempory necessary arrangement for the good of the old sister.They might have noticed already some stange behaviour.

I do not see what harm it could do, although you may get a rebuff.

Keep thinking about any medical/social agency that might help in your area

i just wanted to share a quick experience that happened to me on our way home to providence ri from iowa.

we had stopped at a mcd's in connecticut for me ("tiny tanks") to go potty.

as i was returning to the car, 2 different older gentlemen approached me with the magazines.

You are so right. For decades the G B has been encouraging a seige mentality and a peresecution complex so that whenever an accusation is made, whatever the grounds, the faithful will just say "AHA! There it is , we have been expecting false accusations for years, now it is starting. Armageddon must be very near"

If I did not know from my days of elders meetings and having the Society's letters, I would have never believed that child abuse could happen in the "Truth" , and neither will most of them .

Personally, believe that we must be careful not to pass on the view that the congs are full of perverts waiting to prey on children - because we should know that that is not the case; but if there is dirty laundry in the cupboard it must be brought out. They claim to be so good , lets see them live up to it.

The old joke used to be that they were stacked at the bottom of my wardrobe, all the unplaced copies, now too old yet I did not like to throw away .

Many dubs take home far more than they need ,especially since they do not have to make a specific payment for them - just a donation in the honesty box "W W W Fund"

my personal hell has started since i told my wife i was stepping down and why i was doing so.

she has barely said 2 sentences to me in the last 24 hours, but i can understand her being upset so i'm trying my best to remain patient.. yesterday afternoon i told my cousin who is also one of my closest friends about my decision.

we ended up talking about it for more than 4 hours.

Your circumstances seem much like mine were a while ago. My wife gave me hell when I resigned as an elder, "Abrogating your responsibility" , but she mellowed a bit once she talked to the other elders and realised just what they were like..However I am still thought to be mad , because I cannot see the "obvious truth". Hang on in there Leander, it does get easier.
My experience has been that elders dont really want to know. Since they cannot answer the questions they leave me alone and it is up to me to chase them , because I cannot stand this vacuum!
