i thought i would be dead in 1975. i turned 16 in 1975, and i thought god would kill me because he knew i hated being a jw, even though i hated it, i thought it was ‘da troof’.
Back in the day, I called at the bank to deliver a form that my wife had completed. Unfortunately she had neglected to write in her date of birth.
The bank clerk asked me , "what is your wife's date of birth?" ..... As non birthday keeping Witnesses, I had to admit I did not know..
"Fancy not knowing your wife's birthday" she tutted !
I did learn it after that.
i grew up as a witness, and left about 10 years ago, i'm currently researching witness numbers for a project i'm working on, and i can't seem to get an accurate number of baptised witnesses - hardly a surprise!
from their website it looks like they list the number of publishers instead of the number of baptised witnesses, so it totally works to obscure how many actual witnesses there are, apart from the fact it's morally dubious to class a publisher as a minister of god as they refer to publishers on their uk section of the site.
i also am trying to work out how many leave every year, even approximate figures would be great, from their own website it just looks like they try to massage figures to make them look as favourable as possible.
If they counted all the baptized, I and most others on here would be included. At least as it is, six months after stop reporting you are not counted and generally slip off the radar

I was told some time ago that one of the advantages of the Chelmsford project was that it would allow the sale of several buildings that were then used for residences off the site of the old Bethel. Judging by the postcodes they are all in spitting distance of the old site.
It is a lot of money but that is what property costs in that part of the world. I would accept it if we were told that they have been done up for sale.
That is how they will pay for a super new UK base at Chelmsford.
you don't need to understand complicated ways to go from 607bce to 1914ce.
you don't have to go back to the late 1700's to understand the founding of jehovah's witnesses on the back of william miller's teachings.
you just need to know that watchtower math and past doctrines along with changes in teachings are all based on lies.

It is possible to leave and not be shunned, many of us have done it.
It takes a sloooooow fade and guarded speech in the company of dubs.
In the U K the elders are so non caring that they leave you alone and r and f members only shun if they hear an announcement .
we already know how jws will respond ( on a pole).
but i found an article that talks about jws views on how jesus died.
i didn't know that there was a time when jws accepted the cross unlike now.
That was an excellent article linked by Sweetyj in the o/p. It explains very clearly the use of ancient language and the fact that a word's original meaning is not necessarily the correct understanding. E.g. an obvious example would be if I were to write that, I was feeling gay today, just a few years ago it would have meant that I was happy and lighthearted........... but you all know how you would understand it today....
