  Weekly Meeting Importance Being Reduced - Your Thoughts?

  i am pimo, but now have 40+ years of being a jw as i was raised in a 3rd generation family of witnesses and continue to fake my way through things - fading as i can.. for the vast majority of my time as a jw, the meetings were the central focus for all jws to get teaching, association, information and so on.

  nothing was more important than being at the meetings!

  over the last 20 years starting with the elimination of the weekly book study in homes and continuing down to today - my opinion is that the value/purpose of the weekly meetings continues to be diluted or minimized.

  JW Tom... like you I spent decades within the JW's and still am on the fringes due to family being in it.

  I wonder about the Zoom attendances that are quoted. The seem good but in our case the camera is turned off for orivacy . I am entered as attending but I take little notice. Sometimes the gadget is left connected but we are elsewhere

  I never understood the reason to stop the Group study, years back. A backward move surely.

  However, I am sure that as soon as the law allows, the KH will be opehed and all invuted to attend . I do not buy the idea that they want to stop meeting together to sell the halls. The GB know that if they did that the whole thing would fall apart.

  have you heard many elders complaining about selling out of kh and having a online religion?

  i mean many elders have put years of visiting meetings and sitting there to have it all taken away now.

  reaching that position of elder for nothing .

  Elders today are "company men"..that means yes-men who support every jot of the WTS policies ( or pretend to)

  They make out that it all comes from Jehovah, so who can argue against it?

  Trouble is that common sense is sadly lacking in the human population. The countries that have reduced the covid death toll ,and fared better overall have enforced strict lock downs . The far Eastern ones have often the type of system that enables such laws to be quickly and forcibly enforced.

  I would not advocate that but I will be very cautious to emerge among people , even when the law alows me to.

  I view that as common sense.

  Excellent, Bro Lee Elder and the team.

  This information has the potential to really save lives. It does highlight the silliness of the WT policy. They really muddied the waters when they added the doctrine of fractions ...Although there seems little clinical difference between this and Plasma, it could mean all the world to a believing Witness.

  I know of witnesses who are covid positive. If I hear of anyone getting seriously ill, I will provide this information.

  Trying to get my head around these go bags

  when i was looking at prepping back in the 90s i was told by several elders that we needed to just rely on the org and jehovah and not prep.

  i started to put away vacuum sealed bags of rice beans and spices anyway.

  now they have this go bag crap.

  For what it was really meant, I can see that a go-bag is a good idea.

  People living in areas prone to hurricanes, typhoons earthquakes etc need to be ready. I believe the Wt reprinted content lists from the civil authorities.

  However a lot of dubs took it too far . They confused it with an "Armageddon bag".... which it never was.

  1970 circuit assembly program, sherwood high school, maryland.. .

  rented schools were the accepted places for assemblies before 1970. the high school was used all the time.

  the last one in a school in maryland came in january 2,3,4 1970.. .

  I remember these .... I was in Britain but the programmes were the same. It's true that 1975 was a really big deal at the time, with expectations raised entirely by the WTS.. I mean, did they think that we made it up ourselves? Of course not !

  By the Summer of the year '75 we could see that a lot still had to happen and we thought that maybe the old system would go a bit over ( due to a glitch in the calculation) perhaps a few months or a year, but never did we think it would be decades past.....

  As for living in the twenty-first century ? Come on.... "the world can never last that long! "

  Kingdom Hall Sales

  video conferencing systems are being installed in kingdumb halls.

  this is being charged to the congregations.. the ability to video conference, zoom, directly from the halls will now be the thing.. i believe that the current situation has given the wts an idea.. if there are two kingdom halls in an area, then one can be sold.. congregations will split the use, half using the hall one week and zooming the next and visa versa..

  Technology in K.Halls enables live video from Bethel and allows the cong to broadcast meetings via " Live Kingdom Hall" and KHConf apps,The log in codes for these are carefully guarded by elders and only given to the very elderly or infirm . That is to preserve meeting attendance ,in normal times.

  When this virus thing is over and meetings start again, they won't want people sitting at home.

  At least that has been my experience. .?..
