  refusing to go in service with someone

  did you ever refuse to go in service with someone?

  i did.... i went to the kh to meet for service and 3 brothers were there.

  i told the brother taking the lead, that when he made up the car groups to take note i had a plan of my own -the 3 brothers could go together and i would do my own thing.

  When I used to lead the FS groups , it was always difficult if people had “plans to work together “, especially if Sis. Fruitful had brought along all her kids…

  I did have one Bro. that people did not like working with. I used to get phone calls after the Service with people saying “please don’t put me with him again “ . He was an awkward so and so who said and did his own thing so perhaps they argued? He was o k with me though.

  I was more relaxed about men and women working together. I tried to treat people as grown ups.

  All of us in at the time believed that organ transplants were forbidden. There may not be a quote that states a d/f penalty but it was well understood. You are in no doubt with comments like this

  Why do they love-bomb?

  a) they are genuinely pleased to see a new one coming along

  b) they see it as a Christian duty to be seen as showing love

  c) they can count their time talking to you.

  Did becoming a JW influence you to give up something you enjoyed ?

  when i was a teenager a younger fellow workmate was involved in the sport of judo.i got interested and went along to a number of sessions and took to it like a sponge to water ,and as a sport i was happy participating in.. not that much longer another workmate was getting re-activated in the religion of jw`s.

  which i had never heard o before and then got interested in that .. conflict : was judo a sport that was compatible with j.w beliefs?

  sadly i decided it was not and stopped any further involvement.. to this day i resent that decision i made back then .and i`m 82 years old now.. it was a sport i was comfortable doing and i enjoyed it.and i gave it up because of the religion .who knows what i may have achieved had i continued with it.

  I grew up within it .. but luckily I did not have controlling JW cloned parents. During the sixty’s I heard all the counsel on rock music but I decided to ignore it. I have always loved the music, rock, soul , Blues and all. I just decided that the doctrinal stuff was legit from God, but counsel on music and girl’s hemlines etc was just from the men... well intentioned but Uninformed ..

  I did not tell them at the Hall, though!

  this experience highlights the level of my indoctrination, after 10 years of been a pomo.

  a few months back my gf was hinting to me about what we could do for my birthday.

  to be honest i just had no idea, that i even had a birthday.

  I can’t be bothered with a birthday….. it all seems childish to me. Why would a grown man need to be the centre of attention, blow out candles on a cake and receive presents he could have bought himself if he wanted one?

  When I was at work I woke up from the Watchtower and took pleasure in telling my workmates how wrong it all was and how wrong I had been. I still never let on about my birthday though….. did not want it.

  Conditions of Watchtower Baptism

  i understand that there are 80 to 100 questions that would-be witnesses must answer correctly before they can be considered eligible for "christian baptism".

  however i have noticed that none of the questions relate to the 607destruction, the 1914 invisible presence and enthronement, or even the 1919 appointment of the faithful slave.. now some may feel my question is ridiculous, but bear with me.. will jehovah's witnesses baptize someone who answers all 100 questions satisfactorily, but rejects 607, 1914 and 1919 and the events the watchtower associates with these dates if they agree not to express their rejection to others?.

  On the day of baptism the candidate has to publicly answer ‘yes’ to these two questions

  1) “Have you repented of your sins, dedicated yourself to Jehovah, and accepted his way of salvation through Jesus Christ?”
  
  (2) “Do you understand that your baptism identifies you as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in association with Jehovah’s organization?””

  I believe they would not be able to answer question 2 , if they did not accept 1914 etc.

  Also, if the person claims to not accept the chronology used, then no elder would sanction their baptism

  Knocking on schoolmates doors

  i left the jw's shortly after i graduated high school.

  but when i was still at home i'd get dragged into door to door every saturday morning without fail unless it was pissing rain.

  i can remember always being anxious to know what territory my group was assigned.

  Yes , schooldays were the worst for a young JW... The fear of meeting a school mate in the Ministry, I mean just what do you say ? ?

  Even worst was Monday morning back at school and being pilloried by everybody who had heard about it ...

  to maintain the facade of being a jw, when doing the ministry, are you not advocating for the gb?

  the bible studies, after all are to get people to understand they can't gain life without the "faithful slave" ( you have to be baptized as jw to survive) .how does it make you feel?

  if you are parroting an answer in a paragraph that you know is wrong, how does it make you feel?

  If you have no other ties then it is easy to just stop, turn around and get out. Those of us with families face bigger problems. Many men ,and perhaps women, on here have lost their families because of this

  I have been out for 20 years although I am well known and pre Covid we associated socially and I attended Sunday meetings to support my wife. We still zoom together.

  When I first awoke I knew I had to come off eldership and stop it all but I chose a slow fade over several months to prepare the way and make it not such bombshell. It was still traumatic. During the fade period I felt terrible. Nobody likes a hypocrite.

  That period passed and today I am contentedly out and my home life is happier than it has ever been, thanks also to my wife’s practical view of her religion.

  . It was the right way to do it.

  My family members have bought stuff from Ministry Ideaz I have seen a lot of such stuff among the dubs.

  I can see that if word got out that the business was majorly owned by a d/f person their limited market would crumble. However, they were legally and morally bound to exit the business fairly.

  Will they be facing a committee for fraud?
