Yes they want the flock to be blind obedient sheep who just do what they are told , without thinking . That is not new but it is more blatant these days. This is the congregation watching the monthly broadcast

Were we really meant to live forever?
by Leathercrop inour capacity for adaptation (there's an official term somewhere) is apparently very vast.
meaning that whatever is a novelty always becomes old news and apparently it happens very quickly.
human beings in fact have to put a lot of effort into not discarding valuable things and relationships because of our overwhelming tendency to become incredibly used to it and just plain bored with them.

As best I. An recall, Jesus never told anyone that they would specifically live forever on Earth. I never could grasp the concept of eternity, everything has a beginning and an end , even planets and stars...
It is hard to kick the ideas completely out of my mind , living as I do so closely with dubs for whom such things are part of every day conversation. But do I believe it? No .

Judicial Committees asking Details of Sex acts
by blondie ini remember knowing that jcs would ask very personal questions about sex activities.
this article addresses this: https://www.asahi.com/ajw/articles/15074595 .

They are told not to do this . I sat on many committees over the years and never saw it happen. This from “ Shepherd The Flock” chapter 16
”The committee should first seek to establish the facts and ascer- tain the attitude of the accused. This requires skillful and discreet questions. The judicial committee should be thorough but not in- quire about needless details, especially in regard to sexual mis- conduct.”

Many years ago I was told by a senior Bro.that “ the Society would love to get rid of reports but they know that if they did, the hours would go right down.”
Well, now the hours have most likely gone right down , following the Covid break. So what do they do ? Address the problem with thundering rhetoric warning that token service is not enough and only whole souled service will get you through?
No , they try to mask the problem by abandoning reports .. They can claim what they like now and nobody will ever know.....

Nobody else understands
by ElderBerry inif you once were fully pimi and truly believed jw doctrine to the core like i once did, when you come to the reality that it is not the truth at all it can be extremely devastating.. i think only other ex jws could ever understand.
i wasted my entire life i thought the real life was yet to come to wasted the best years knocking on doors.
now i’m so angry.. i can understand why so many top themselves when they realise it was all lies..
-
BluesBrother
I know this exactly. After realising that , you’re not going to live forever and you only have the allotted 70 years or so, and that you have already wasted most of it .....That is a horrible thing to deal with.
But you do. My awakening was 20 years ago. I am already past the “three score and ten” years so every day is a bonus. I am not good at keeping positive but I try. Just enjoy every day as it comes.

Anti-gravity in the new world!
by BoogerMan infrom golden age, march 24, 1926. https://jws-library.one/?file=data/1926/g_e_19260324/g_e_19260324.html#bookmark22.
"many have wondered how accidents would be avoided during christ’s kingdom, since we are told that nothing shall then hurt or destroy.
most accidents are due to gravitation and its effects.
-
BluesBrother
Yes, I was told that accidents are the result of imperfection and we would do that in the New World.....oh well......
That Golden Age quote is priceless, do you think they really meant it seriously?
We all know there is a load of crazy stuff in there.

The Saddest Thing About Tony Morris's Removal
by NotFormer ini've mentioned before how i've wondered how tony morris must have felt when he was sacked.
yes, i know he's a rehensible human being who got served a healthy dose of karma, or, if you like, divine judgement.
to go from having all there is to have within the world he lived in, to where he is now; that's a long fall.

And you know all this ? How ?
All I can say that I really know is that AM3 is no longer on the Gov. Body and his talk videos have been talken down. The rest is speculation, although I admit that it looks like a removal- but I have no facts

No Divine protection for Jehovah's Witnesses' gatherings. JW Death toll rises around the world.
by Balaamsass2 ingrowing up as a jw in the 1960s and 1970s, a common refrain from the yearbook, local elders and circuit overseers was how jws were protected at meetings, conventions, and in the field service by "the angels".
experiences of "divine intervention" during service, ww2, in communist lands, and conventions were common.
the internet and google are regularly debunking this myth in the 21st century.

I don’t know where you were, but I was never taught that we had Gods protection at meetings… Now I did hear a few of the more dopey ones say such things but we never took it seriously. Admittedly they did claim such things during WW2 and Nazi Germany but that was different….. so we thought…

Life in a spiritual (UN)-paradise
by Reasonfirst ina long, long time ago, when i was young, i became a 'special' pioneer.
it meant that i had to spend 150 hours a month, and i received a small allowance.
i was then assigned to a small country congregation, in western nsw (australia).

Thus is the story of small country congregations the world over. Reminds me of the one we moved to when we could get a mortgage and a house. We left the big swinging cong. In the large town and went to dullsville. It was a huge mistake. It was dominated by one or two entrenched families and sons daughters-in-law. I had no idea of the politics of the BOE .. and sad rivalries going on.. Human nature I guess… We moved back a.s.a.p.
I await the next episode of his story

The ''dreaded'' birthday cake
by RULES & REGULATIONS inthe watchtower—study edition | september 2023. study article 39. let mildness be your strength.
11 if a workmate asks, for example, why we do not celebrate birthdays, consider: could he be wondering whether we are allowed to have a good time?
or might he feel that our position will dampen the company’s team spirit?

That was A very typical pic in the WT and one that very many office working dubs will identify with... As for explaining the reasons, most others are not interested, they just understand that ‘ you people don’t ‘ ... The reasons sound pretty flimsy anyway.
At the rate the WTS is going it won’t be too long before they announce that ‘ The Bible does not mention it so we cannot make rules’ ... Not yet though.
