I really appreciated the nice, humble caring elders...but the ones who just dont give a s**t about anyone, who cares about them! They shouldn't even be elders

Hilarious rumours!!!
by gerbils inwhen my father stepped down from being an elder in the congregation, due to him wanting to spend more time with the family, a lot of people were very curious as to why he did.
the shocking rumour started going around as to the reason why- my dad had been caught having gay sex in a car with another brother, and they were caught in the act by a pioneer sister in the congregation!.
on hearing the gossip dad actually couldn't speak for a whole 1/2 hour!

Outoftheorg! I'd suggest that you feel highly elated. What it means is that you are a nice individual, someone to be trusted and conversed with. I'm sure they do miss u. Slightly worrying that they haven't found someone to talk to in 13 years tho!

What? He's not in the truth???!!!!
by gerbils in2 1/2 years ago i met my non-jw boyfriend, and i received a shepherding call from two lovely elders who told me that i was mixing good with evil, and didn't i know the man i loved was going to die at armaggedon?
they left me in tears...not as though i left my boyfriend of course.
i've made sure that things like that don't get to me anymore.

even funnier was that they visited me on the memorial day...and so just to spite them I brought my boyfriend along to it. Their faces literally dropped! hahaha

Encouraged NOT to have kids
by JustTickledPink ini was just thinking about the publisher stats and the birth rate, that was mentioned.. do you all remember in the 80's at the assemblies everyone was encouraged not to have children, to spend their time pioneering, because at armeggedon and in the time of the "tribulation" that it would be difficult with small kids.... to wait until the new system.. i remember a couple that pioneered and she really wanted kids, so her husband made her a deal that they had to pioneer for 5 more years and if the "end" hadn't come yet, they could have kids.
i think they were reaching 30. i do remember 5 years went by and they had a son, that was probably 15 years ago.
can you imagine the people that followed the advice and now are too old to have kids, but spent plenty of time pioneering?.

I attended the recent assembly day where it was announced that 'we should cast off every unnecessary burden' in order to advance spiritually...including our non believing family and friends!!! terrible

Franklin...that story is awful! People like that have no possible excuses to call themselves christians!could you imagine jesus ever saying that?....ur...no! I just wish I had been brave enough to say that to the elders who visited me!
Thats not saying of course that all elders are bad, because they aren't. I know some really lovely, humble, loving men who are elders, but then there are some right ba*!^rds too, who have no place being able to spiritually lead people!

How many here grew up JW but had worldly friends?
by Jez inmy best friend was worldly all through elementary to high school.
we are still good friends.
i wonder if that led to our being a tad bit more open minded and aided in our exit???

Totally! I felt that it was of great benefit to have as wider mix as possible! Including a non-JW boyfriend! It taught me a lot about other cultures and made me realise a lot more about the world
