  How did you get the "troof"?

  i was assimilated at birth... .

  my maternal grandparents came to england in the early 1940s, and learnt the troof here.

  my grandfather opposed my grandmother for a while, but then he decided it wasn't worth the fight and studied the blue "troof book" and my grandparents got baptised at the same assembly.

  My mom's brother died in a car accident and, wouldnt you know it, two Jay-Dubs show up on her doorstep a couple weeks later. They get baptised in '76. I was born in '77. Hence the twisted and damaged cult survivor you see before you.

  Why Does The Society Pick BORING Books To Study At The Bookstudy?

  my mom hates the daniel book and doesn't even remember studying it before.

  (she's 79 today).

  maybe she's losing it.....i don't think so.

  The last bookstudy I was in was funny - over half the group had no commenting "priviledges", so we all just sat there and let one older couple do all the commenting. So not only were we studying excruciatingly horribly boring cultist junk, we had to listen to the same two people comment on it for an hour. It was truly torture.

  i used to try and avoid running into jw's after i was first d/f, but the past few years i have taken a different spin on it.

  at my old job as a cashier if i was the only cash open then they had no choice but to have me wait on them.

  the apprehension on their faces as they approaached was hysterical.

  Elder Condemned Me to Death

  i have been thinking about this because of another post where the question asks have any of us ever been blackmailed to stay in the watchtower organization.. no, i won't say i was blackmailed; however, after i wrote my note of disassociation, the congregation overseer wanted to visit me in my home with two other elders.

  i repeatedly said no, that i would not allow them to chastise me in my own home.

  therefore, all of my conversations were over the phone with the overseer.

  When I told an elder in an email that I was going to disassociate he told me that I would have to "live with the consequence". I didn't take it personally. They are cultists.

  who escapes more often, those born into it or adult converts?

  what strikes me on this board is the number of adult converts that have left the borg, either fading out or getting df'd.

  from my experience (i was born into it, 2nd generation, left before getting baptized) most of the faders or escapees were also like.

  me, born into it, never really accepted it and just bowed out at the first opportunity.

  Its hard to say. I know without a doubt I would NEVER have become a dub if I hadn't been born into it. It seems like a lot of people who bought it felt they were missing something or had a tragedy in their lives or something. They might be a little less willing to research and get out of it. Time will tell.
