WTS: NO MORE BOUND VOLUMES AFTER THIS YEAR!

i just found out today (from my sister) that crooklyn will not be making any more bound volumes of the watchtower or awake magazines after this year------instead, they're all going to be on audio tape only.

she does not have a computer so i generously

i think this could very well be yet another tactic of the gb trying to keep a lid on their "embarassing" quotes of yesterday.

The WTS has put the WT/AW on audio cassette and then mp3 audio for years. A lot of the friends listened to the cassettes in their cars while commuting.

The society may combine the WT/AW bound volumes or discontinue them but neither of these two alternatives change the fact that :

a) The regular mp3 audio or cd audio of each issue will continue to be issued.

b) That the KM already stated that the WT CDrom would be updated and available yearly.

There are a lot of the friends who don't order the Bound Volumes any longer because the WT CDrom provides the research material they need. Most dubs save the current year of magazines for meeting preparation and such and replace them with the bound volume or the WT CDrom.

Can you imagine a cd audio of the entire year of WT/AWs? It would be a major multi-disc set with very little use for preparing for the meetings. If you've been a witness you know that you use the older magazines (usually within the past year) for meeting part preparation.

It seems that this "rumor" blends two issues into one. Perhaps no more WT/AW bound volumes and current issue mp3 audio becoming cd audio.

I finally watched the video and I must say I'm sick to my stomach. Oh my God, the stress of leaving the God-forsaken religion is going to kill me.

As I watched my stomach began to ache and my head felt woozy and I almost (and I'm serious here) almost couldn't finish watching the video due to my extreme uncomfortableness.

What a crappy religion to put people in situations like this. How unloving and unkind, how despiccable that they really think this is what being a true christian really is.

Thumbs up for video taping this. I hope I have the courage to stand up strong for myself if the time comes.

C.O / D.O leaving the `truth`???

Revelation It's Grand Climax at Hand! - bookstudy

i was reading e-watchman today and someone there is saying that after studying the what does the bible really teach book at bookstudies the next book will be the revelation book!!!.

there isn't any real proof, but the poster claimed a letter from bethel stated this.

perhaps some here can dig around and confirm or deny this new rumor.. we've studied it 3 times in the past and it's been awhile.

For the average dub the information goes right over their head or in one ear and out the other. All they really get out of the study is that the society "understands" revelation much better than any other religion and it all fits together so nicely.

The average dub won't be concerned about aging trumpet blasts or new light or anything else. They'll just be awed by the deep spiritual discussion which they don't really understand.

We all know that the WTS has a major turnout rate of adherents. There is a majority, I'll bet, that haven't studied this book formally. This recent study will use up older stock and cement in the minds of newbies how deeply spiritual the WTS is.

For thinkers - this may be the ticket out for them.

you know all the myspace.com warnings that were on here about elders on a witch hunt searching for active jw's blogs and using them against them?

well the elders didn't search but an old aquaintenance did.

she was disfellowshipped for her blogs concerning all the casual sex she was having.

He Unique1, don't let it get you down. We all make mistakes. You'll move one and surivive. I've made some really bad choices in my lifetime. But, I keep plugging along doing the best I know how.

I'm truly sorry that you are going through this. It's unfortunate that we were a part of a religion that uses police state tactics.

Good luck with all you're going through now. I'll keep you in my prayers.

What Does the Bible Really Teach??

my wife's family is jw, she has never been a partipative jw, but now due to her mom, has been expressing some interest and is starting a 'bible study' using 'what does the bible really teach?

' am looking for any guidance on this book as well as any path i can take to make sure my wife stays away.

any assistance at all would be appreciated.

A thought just struck me. Depending on where your wife is mentally you may be able to strike early. Try telling her that you read some information about the witnesses that concerned you. That before she took an interest you never thought about checking the witnesses out.

But, now that you have checked them out you've found some dificult to reconcile information. Perhaps you can beat the dubs to the punchline. They will tell her quite quickly during her bible study that her friends and family will try to intervene and stop her studying. They will ensure that she knows that your intervening or anyone else's for that matter is from the Devil. The devil will stop at nothing to interrupt her path to true knowledge.

Sound bogus? Trust me, it is regular fare for a bible study. I'm sure many here were taught that same thing; I taught many that same thing myself. In fact if you start disparaging the dubs after she's been told to expect it you simply fall into the dubs trap. They appear to be accurate in their prediction of your negative attitude. It can cement a new bible study further into the group.

Elders making shepherding calls using Keep On The Watch! brochure

i heard first hand from an elder that they are makin shpeherding calls using certain pages of the keep on the watch!

brochure, at the direction of the society.. i can't remember the page numbers, but the article is about our priorities and having a sense of urgency in the times we live in.. as this is coming from the society, do you think they are worried, what with their 1.3% increase for 2005 service year?.

i mean, this is 2006 after all, not 1998 - the society have given jw's nothing to hope for anymore, no sense of the impending doom of babylon the great.

If they were going to use that brochure on all shepherding calls (which according to the society every member of the congregation should be getting) why wouldn't they just have it as a Service Meeting part?

Everyone knows that there isn't a hall in the world (ok pretty sweeping statement, I agree) that visits every publisher for a shepherding call. It's only those who are tiring out or not doing enough and catch the eye of an elder who actually get called on.

The shepherding elders, or shepherding elder with ministerial servant are supposed to discuss which artiles would be useful to discuss with the sheeplike one ahead of time. This makes both brothers prepare well for the shepherding call for maximum effect. I know, I know this only really happens in make believe land. It is, however, from my memory at least, unusual for the society to dictate a specific topic to be covered at all shepherding calls.

The brochure stinks, I hope they do use it.

Are you tempted to celebrate V-Day with your DUB mate?

valentine's day is tuesday and i was just wondering; for those who still have mates in dub land...is it tempting to maybe buy them flowers or insist on a dinner date on such a lovey-dovey day?

i saw some yellow roses on sale today at walmart and was tempted to get some for my mom then i realized i'd better wait till after the 14th.
