From my own experience I know there are a lot of WINOs in the local KHs. (witness in name only). They know all the right lingo and what clothes to wear and what to say they like and dislike. But in reality once they are at home or work they pretty much do as they please. The comment I've heard is 'hey I haven't fornicated or killed anyone so I'm ok'. -

jw.org cart days numbered?
by jookbeard inreading a report of an elder in a friends cong has been hiding and spying on the pioneers who seem to have a practise of dumping the cart and finding a local coffee shop, i've noticed that they do this in my local high street as well but this week they seemed to be all huddled around the cart, they've clearly been warned, a vast percentage of the time i see they seem to be more interested in fiddling with their mobile phones and gossiping, is just seems these carts are a means for the pioneers to turn in "easy time" i wonder what sort of figures show how much literature is being taken by the public?
i bet its very minimal.
naturally the gb would say they are a phenomenal success , we clearly know they are not.

That's great InsidetheKH. Sounds a lot like the way Jesus did his ministry..... -

Yep. It's busy work and has the side benefit of being a "privilege" to set some apart as special in the congregation.
The dubs will stand by the cart for a week or two and then slowly go back to their natural state of drinking coffee and playing on their phones until someone guilts them again. so the cycle will continue. All the while carts will be a phenomenal success that all should reach out for the privilege of doing.. yuck!

The entire focus of the dub religion is to gain more members and they only grew 2%! That's pathetic.
That tells me that gaining new members is the main stated focus of the dubs, but on an individual member level the main focus is just surviving to the end.

They should exercise soundness of mind and not use pictures from R rated films. -

Memorial Question?
by naazira inover the years, i've come to notice that some of the friends will not touch the plate with the bread or the cup of wine ,when the emblems are being passed around.
i remember a row of 3 people told the brother to skip over them.
every year i have noticed this behavior.

I also find that passing the plate among the plate handlers is so weird. I've commented on it before but my wife just thinks I'm looking to make trouble. How can she not see that it's a weird tradition. -

Wow! If that really is meant to just be a forearm with a hand at the end that artist is messed up. It looks like it starts as a forearm and ends as a penis. weird -

Hot topic in congregations: having a beard/goatee
by nevaagain ini am starting this topic because i was wondering, i see many who leave "the truth" are glad because they can finally have a beard.
is having a beard really a no go in congregations?
how is / was it in your congregation?.

I've known brothers who have had beards and maintained their privileges and some others who were taken to the back room and basically told to shave or else. I've never known a current elder or ms to have a beard. I'm sure some on the board have more experience with that than I do.
It all depends on the local elders and what the CO says when he comes around.
In all the experiences I've had though I have noticed that those with beards are viewed as somewhat rebellious or pushing the edge. Even if they kept their privileges.

20% off, blowout sale, discount prices. The syrup they pour on the more sales they make.

A coming out story to my mother.
by JennyBoo inso i actually came out to my mother a few days ago.
told her how i really felt about being a jw (jehovah's witness) and how i wasn't straight.
i wasn't surprised by the disapproving response i got because really, i wasn't expecting any more.

Good for you JennyBoo. I'm happy for you. Telling your mom because it was something you needed to do for yourself is really mature. I hope you have a happy and fulfilling life.
