New arrangement from C.O.
by Doctor Who ini think most on here will be familiar with the caller hook up system that many congregations use.
visit about 2 months ago.
during our servant and elders meeting he was talking up the importance of meeting attendance and how we "gods spirit appointed men" must take the lead on making every meeting.

That must be why my wife doesn't call in when she misses a meeting. -

Everything seems to be changing... why not birthdays?
by StarTrekAngel inif we look at all doctrines, we see an overall effort to conserve unity and control.
- assuming most birthdays, if allowed, would probably be oriented to children, then that means 40 celebrations per year.
so all in all, this give a total potential attendance to a birthday of 30 families (120 attendance / 4 family members).

I also think that it's about making them different. Lots of dubs thrive on feeling better than other christian religions because they don't do holidays and celebrations. It makes them feel special and I think that is what a lot of dubs thrive on. They may lose their family members or that great job but the whole time they are feeling superior and smug because they are different and better. -

Specific Comments By R&F About May Broadcast
by freemindfade ini know there are many posts discussing the may money requesting televangalism...er... broadcast i mean!
but i wanted to start one where anyone can put what they have heard any non-exjw, non-apostate witnesses say good or bad about the broadcast.
i don't see how it can't rattle followers... but then again i might be surprised how they can twist things (2+2=5).

Sorry driving force. My wife still hasnt mentioned it. I dont even know if she watches the broadcasts. I assume she does because I figure they all do.
I keep hoping that one day she will honestly look at me and ask 'why exactly did you fade?' and her freedom might begin.

Wow what a great thread! Thank you for starting it and for everyone who has posted so far.
If my wife had watched it she hasn't said anything. But I expect her stubborness to prove me wrong about my fading would prevent her from sharing anything about her feelings about it with me.

I think it's too unstructured much like the bookstudies used to be. The GB will cancel it if they think it is causing too much free speech and openness. -

Wasn't voting a conscience matter back in Russell's day? Same as military service in WWI? -

Welcome to the forum Tony. I'm glad you have had a chance to do research and make your mind up for yourself. I have known others who did what it took to get reinstated before doing the fade away. It's probably not too easy but you know that by now. Just keep moving forward. I hope you meet some on here from your area. Maybe you can plan a exjw meetup. -

Mays JW TV Broadcast/Your feedback is appreciated
by ToesUp ini have a pretty good intuition but i have to admit i am going back and forth on the jw tv may broadcast.
i keep asking myself are they really in financial trouble (wishful thinking) or are they just grabbing for more money?.
i always appreciate reading everyone's thoughts and ideas on here.. let me know what you think.

Maybe they've done an internal estimate on potential lawsuit payouts and realized they needed more money. -

GB’s spring cleaning helps faders
by wheelwithinwheel inthe gbs 2015 doctrinal spring cleaning is a gift to all faders.
when we were fading they were grappling with the dying generation.
their ensuing explanations made our diminishing meeting attendance and service easily explainable.

Stress and depression seem to be the only acceptable reasons that elders typically accept. -

Kingdom Hall loans Cancelled? Lurkers...please read
by ToesUp ini hope that writing this, there will be some lurkers that i can shake.. if you have not listened to mays tv broadcast, please do.
it may wake some up.. note @ around 21-22 minutes into the broadcast lett brings up the the kingdom halls/assembly hall loans have been cancelled and the congregation can now send in what they can afford.
wow...how many banks would do that?.
-
TheListener
My guess is that since publishers didn't see those parts of the letter that you mention that maybe the broadcast will wake up some elders...
