in todays news from australia it appears that, despite his previous declination to appear when invited, justice mcclellan from the australian royal commission on child sex abuse will officially summon brother geoffrey jackson to the stand after all.. ..... the commission was due to conclude its hearings into the jehovahs witnesses on wednesday but justice mcclellan said he will now call geoffrey jackson, a senior member of the churchs governing body in new york who is currently in australia, to appear next week.. .

Leaving the org and marriage possibly ending

i was raised a witness, baptized at 16, vacation pioneered, got married, etc.

i was very much your typical witness and believed it was the truth until last summer.

a very close relative of mine left the witnesses.

I was a baptized witness for decades and faded away..... My wife is still a witness and we remain married. We had a couple years of rocky relationship while one as finding out TTATT but nothing really really bad. We have kids so staying married, if the household is peaceful and supportive, was important to both of us. She told me early on in my research and eventual fade that she wouldn't leave me. However, I know she feels frustration and disappointment that I am not active any longer.

Our communication is improving. I am working hard at not being dismissive or angry sounding when she mention the hall or witness stuff. I don't don't talk bad about the wts but the kids and I do holidays and birthdays and I have several disfellowshipped friends. She even goes out with my work friends with me sometimes and we have a nice time. Of course we did that when I was active too.

I hope there is something helpful in my story. Feel free to PM me if you want.

My thoughts on Geoffrey Jackson

first off, i don't think that dude is going to show face.

he's most likely on a plane already.

if he shows it's bad pr and if he doesn't show it's bad pr.

I would like him to explain how the GB develops their interpretations of the scriptures and why the two witness rule is literal but the stoning is not.

I also think it would be important to this case to know how the GB determines how to adjust their rules - does the GB still vote? Is it still 2/3 majority rules?

How can the Royal Commission be certain that the entire GB understand the gravity of this situation and will revise their rules accordingly?

no one has shown anything but great interest and empathy for those who were abused.. i don't know who this simonsays character is though and i find him to be very rude and ignorant.

it takes all kinds to make the world go round i suppose.. today i was contacted by a staff member of the royal commission.

If I was in your shoes I don't know that I could muster up the same courage and risk so much. You are a hero and so are the rest of the individuals who risk everything in telling their personal stories.

Good for you umbertoecho. Man this commission is really something great. They seem truly interested in the individuals who were harmed in the past and how to help future individuals from becoming victims. Bravo!

last week we had the cos visit and i wanted to share my experiences with you.

some background info on me, i knowttatt and am fully awake, my wife also knows my doubts and read a few things on the internet but she is still 100% commited to the truth, saying everything on the apostate sites are lies.

so right now i am in just to keep the status quo.

Umertoecho, that's really underhanded for a wife to do. That would definitely damage my trust in my spouse. What I don't get is if she knows you say things she considers "apostate" or whatever, why does she need to record you, especially if you were being recorded while talking to two elders? Sorry to hear about your situation.

Nevaagain, still, to know TTATT and have to attend meetings, meetings for field service, CO lunches (two of them in one week!!!!) and all the rest would just kill me. I couldn't do it. I give you credit for doing whatever you have to do in your life to stay sane. Just be sure to care for yourself and make sure you are happy too. It's not always about everyone else, sometimes it's just about us.
