Taking the Step
by beardfreedom infirst time posting after years of reading, the things i have learned here have gradually helped to open my eyes to the reality of this religion.
though i have been mentally out for some time, lately i have stopped going to meetings and service.
the elders are calling and i have been ignoring them, i am trying to get up the courage to finally break free and never go back.

New, but needed to vent- thank you :-)
by Danni Jackson ini discovered your website this morning as i was trying to find some information about 'marking'.
you see a very close friend of mine was 'marked' earlier this week and as i know the ins and outs of the situation (as we are close friends) i disregarded the talk immediately as i know my friend is obviously having issues but is no way a 'danger' to anybody else's spiritual health.
basically they are dating a non-believer- hence the talk.

by goingthruthemotions inso me and my wife have not been on speaking terms for about 5 weeks, and when we do .
talk…it is arguing about the jw cult and more of a barrage from me telling here all the stuff i have learned.
i know i shouldn't do this....but, i get so freaking p.o ed aobut what this cult has done to my family.

Maybe it's a list of things that she wants to ask the elders about. Not necessarily to out you but to put to rest any doubts you may have created. She might not be planning to turn you in.
I agree with others though that you need to stop talking about the jw stuff with her.

Can’t cope with being disfellowshipped…..Need some advice
by xxBettyBoopxx inthis site is great, i have been lurking for a while now.
but i can’t get reinstated and have used some of the advice already given.. i was df’d many months ago and go to all the meetings and do all the preparation for the meetings, but the jc committee keep refusing me.
tomorrow at the clam meeting i am puting yet another letter in and will be called for another dreadful jc meeting.. 1. what can i say to the elders to show that i am truly repentant?.

BettyBoop,
You said you were disfellowshipped many months ago. Depending on the elders and the reason for the DF'ing it may take awhile to get reinstated, even if you're doing all that is required. I don't know if 'many months' is 6 or 12 or even 18. But, there are a lot of ex-elders on here that can probably tell you a realistic timeframe for reinstatement. From my experience it all depends on the offense, how the congregation viewed you before the DF'ing and how you've been acting since.
I am really sorry that you have lost contact with your family and friends (well, the ones that aren't secretly talking with you). When my wife and I had kids (she's still a witness) I told her they that I would not cut them off if they made mistakes in life. I think that disfellowshipping is disgusting and 100% against what the bible teaches. You might feel better if you research disfellowshipping and learn for yourself that it really isn't a biblical teaching as we were always taught it was.
Please keep posting and sharing your feelings and you will get a lot of support here.

Not too my son...
by The Rebel inwill i say " orlando, your hair is too long, and needs to be cut short" and never will i say " orlando, invites to birthday parties can't be accepted".
and i will buy my son books he wants to read, books that bring him happiness, and that he understands.
and by so doing, i hope he will acquire happy memories of his childhood, so that the sensitive and delicate, in him will be allowed to grow.

Sounds great The Rebel. I envy the upbringing for your son.

LivingSocial SurvivalKit: For 1 or 2? And that is the question!
by oppostate injust following the "worst-district-convention-ever" there's a lot of frightened jw's worriedly and eagerly excited about the "great tribulationnnnn-tam-tam-tammmmm" starting.
it's the talk of the town in jw land.. today, my wife is off to the sunday meeting and an after-spiritual-banquet-get-together for the speaker.
i'm staying home for this one.

You know the answer Oppostate - for 2 but that 2 doesn't include you - it's for a potential bible study :)

Nice to meet you samj. I faded very slowly and it was soooo painful. After a while I just couldn't stand being at the meetings and hearing the crap they spewed from the audience and platform.
I wish you the best of hanging around the dubs but being mentally free.

Bunker Video Sparks Family Drama!
by Wasanelder Once ini guess you are guaranteed to survive the "great tribulation" if you don't be a "kevin".
my family members are doubling down on their fervor about meeting attendance.
they are having an effect on some of my wishy washy long time inactive family.

Thanks Blondie. I wonder how a Go Bag for natural disasters differs from a 'Geddon Bag or Bunker Bag. Just something else for those witness website to sell to my wife.
