JW EXPERT WITNESS FLOORED BY COMMISSION OF INQUIRY LAWYER
by steve2 inmuch has already been written about dr monica applewhite, the expert witness hired by the jw organization.
her job was to provide "expert" testimony to the australian commission of inquiry into jehovsh's witnesses' policies and practices on child sexual abuse.
astonishingly, dr applewhite was unprepared for the inquiry lawyers' questions.

The Assyrian started to attack from Australia
by opusdei1972 inthe gb has been preparing the flock for the assyrian's attack, that now is starting from australia:.
elders, you can learn some helpful lessons from what we have just discussed: (1) the best thing you can do to prepare for the future attack of the assyrian is to strengthen your faith in god and help your brothers to do the same.
(2) when the assyrian attacks, you must be completely convinced that jehovah will save us.

"Report it to the elders if you hear anyone in the congregation talking bad about the GB"
by hardtobeme inlast night and elder gave the bible highlights at the congregation.
he talked about apostasy.
and among other things he said: "report to the elders if you hear anyone in the congregation talking bad about the governing body".

The more things like that get said from the platform the crazier they sound to newly interested ones. Even some (probably not many) long time dubs might feel uncomfortable with rhetoric like that. -

I wish this issue never happened and I wish it wasn't the achilles heel of the witnesses - because this is a terrible terrible thing and no one should have to go through it. I hope the victims that have been silenced by their own doubts and fears or by elder bodies and family members find that they can come forward and be heard and get real help from trained professionals. And I hope that in the process the WTS goes completely bankrupt!
I agree - let's turn the silent lambs into roaring lions!!

I never thought anything like this would happen to the dubs - I am so happy that this Royal Commission is so thorough.
Even if current witnesses won't listen or believe what is happening this is going to have a definite affect on future non-children recruits.

JW Reaction to Royal Commission Reports
by maksutov inhas anybody confronted any jws with the royal commission reports on the news yet?
i showed my 8-year old daughter a newspaper headline about it, and when she told my jw wife that the jws in australia were in trouble for not reporting over 1,000 child abusers to police, her response was "oh, really?
well, i don't know what the rules are over there.

Sad about the past
by Gorbatchov intoday i feel deep sad memories in my brain.. visiting bookstudy with my parents, doing my best giving answers at 7 years old.. doing fieldservice every weekend and on an evening.. i could write so much story's about it.. we believed from our hart and listened to what the organisation told us.. it makes me sad, what a scam it became.. today i can't stand it.. i can cry about it.

Great thread! I remember all the meetings and bookstudies and how serious I took it all. The revelation book was so deep but made so easy to understand by the society. I was so impressed and felt I was a real bible student. I felt pity for the worldly people I knew and would always wonder how I could get them to listen to me. But like a lot of witnesses I didn't really try super hard to convert people because I was nervous and maybe a bit embarrassed by some of the teachings. Weird mix, on one hand I totally believed everything but on the other I was sort of embarrassed and hid the fact I was a dub at work and school.
I get sad because I feel that if I was a better husband my wife would have folowed me out. It is probably not true but it's its a feeling I,sill have to live with. At least my kids are out.

I keep hoping that if the local elder testimony has been so damning that the branch representatives will really put the nail in the coffin. Then the news can report what the leaders of the WTS Australia say and not just a local elder or CO. Let's face it most people these days want to hear from the head honchos not just a local priest or elder.
I am really hopeful that the news stories will grow and expand and not disappear by some other large event.

Governing Body, painted in a corner, now what?
by Wasanelder Once inthe governing body have painted themselves in a corner, so to speak.
if they acknowledge their response to abuse claims was insensitive, unloving and inadequate they are denying the belief that "god's way" is best and risk losing abuse cases.
if they stick with it and say it is "god's way according to the bible" they will be seen as cult leaders and risk losing abuse cases.

It would be great if the Royal Commission could require the GB to appear before them. Maybe if the local branch representatives say that they call Headquarters (GB) for direction then the Royal Commission will continue to climb up the chain of command.
