The wonderful things you hear AFTER you step down as an elder!
by redpilltwice inwell, well, that was quite a heartfelt welcome on this site four days ago.
thank you all for the encouraging replies.

Great post RPT. It's great to hear a current account of how some brothers are feeling. It's been to long for me to have any current stories to share. Thanks and I hope you keep posting, especially while the current mood of the congregation and elder body is fresh on your mind. -

Great reply to the people at the KH Happeanna! I will try to remember it for my own use at this year's memorial (it's the only meeting I still attend with my wife).
David_Jay great to have you on the board and to see you posting. I totally agree with what you said about reconnecting with other ex-witnesses that we used to know. I remember finding it really hard to approach other ex-witnesses that were my good friends that were disfellowshipped. I was embarrassed about how I treated them. They were forgiving, loving and kind and our friendship continues.

Powerball Jackpot up to 1.3 Billion Dollars. Do you think the governing body bought any tickets?
by My Name is of No Consequence inwhat if the governing body members bought a ticket or somehow obtained one.
then the unthinkable happens...they won!
how would they be able to hide that?

When I was a witness I always thought that if I bought a lottery ticket Jehovah would allow me to win so I would get in trouble with the elders.
That is just so stupid and wrong on so many levels. Very embarrassing to be brainwashed.

I would love for my wife to wake up due to all the changes. But I don't think it will happen. -

Is the Watchtower organisation facing the biggest crisis of its history?
by slimboyfat inrecent developments make me think they might be.
the problems they are facing are not just lack of funds but also draining authority, and the two could be a heady and explosive mix.
one of the best analyses ever written of the watchtower was a book called "trumpet of prophecy" by sociologist james beckford in the 1970s.

Crazyguy,
What did you mean by this statement:
They are trying to make changes so less will leave but they have also stopped trying in 3 world countries so in the end the numbers will get worse.
I thought they were still trying to convert in undeveloped countries. I thought that is what the translation offices were for.

Great Stories! I am reading them all and loving them. I was there in the 80s/90s. One day when I have nothing to lose I will write my stories too. I don't think they'll be as exciting as yours but still fun to share my memories. -

Are Bethelites Buying and Preparing their own Food?
by TakeOffTheCrown insamuel herd made the following statement at the 2015 annual meeting regarding the reduction of services at bethel.. we will be reducing personnel at bethel.
some bethel family members will be invited to serve in the field.
in addition to their regular work, bethel family members will be caring for many of the services that were previously provided by fellow bethelites.. .

We always had a buffet style breakfast on Sunday mornings where we would go down to the dining room and grab bread, lunch meat, cheese, pickles, condiments, whatever we needed to make a lunch for between meetings and field service. Those of us young single brothers who were lucky enough to have a mini fridge would grab extra and store it away for snacks. -

I agree JWDaughter, the buildings sales provide income now but they won't get an infusion of cash like that again and if donation remain low they'll have to spend their principal and not live on the interest.
That's if if if they haven't already mortgaged those buildings in Brooklyn which means selling them only clears their debts and doesn't make them any real money.

Those videos seem very childish. I guess they need to be very clear with their words and phrasing but it didn't sound natural or comfortable at all.
What a much weirder organization they've become.
