Memorial Invitation

how do you faders/inactive handle being asked to the memorial by family?

I'm probably in the minority but I attend the memorial and so do the kids. It's the only dub activity we do with my wife. Why? To keep peace in our household.

We have a nice dinner as a family, show up at the memorial, say hi to a few people I rarely see and go home to watch tv or play a game. There's worse ways to spend an evening.

So I do it to keep peace because I know my wife, along with most dubs, feel that once you stop attending the memorial you really aren't even a christian. And I don't think I can ever help my wife see TTATT if I skip the memorial.

Elder Mentioning an "Apostate Problem"

i bumped into a sister that i have known for at least 40 years or so.

she and her husband have been in the truth for decades.

A relative of mine goes to a hall where two sisters started partaking a couple years ago.

My relative told me that the congregation was really surprised and couldn't believe they were anointed. Both sisters were elders wives. My relative said he counted them since they are considered strong in the "tr...whatever we're calling it now...uth" and in good standing in the congregation.

It must be happening all over the world. The anointed number going up feels like an unintended consequence of something else that is going on in jw land.

Office Jargon, drives me nuts

'granular' seems to be the latest buzz word going around my office.

previously it was 'appetite'.. abstract words that appear to be designed to make the person saying it appear powerful and part of the 'team'.. as lord sugar has observed before; why not just speak english and say what you mean.. office jargon really annoys me.

i had enough loaded language and jargon in the disgusting jw cult..

Older members in my family have bought tablets and have no idea what they're doing. I commented on this in another thread but basically they are always asking the younger ones at the hall to help them which at first was ok but not the younger ones are getting frustrated. It's hilarious to hear them discuss the tablets and how confusing it all is. One thing I noticed is that they never delete anything so they are always running out of memory because they don't trust the cloud.

i had several rebuttals to give him, but didn't.

i'm sorry that this isn't a very thought provoking post but i could really use some advice on how to handle this.

there isn't anyone else in my life i can ask right now because, being dfed, all of my friends are "worldly" and don't know how witnesses function.

Let's see WWW, everyone ignores her like she's the walking dead, which in their mind she is and you think she doesn't get it? Oh I think she gets it. By reading her posts it's pretty obvious what the sh#! infected F#$!$ng cult has done and they did it to make sure she gets it.

Barelythere, reinstatement is their game, you need to play it their way to get what you want. But, what will make it more bearable is knowing that you are running the long con and in the end you will use their F!#$!@#D up system to F@#!$ them. But, please please be aware that there are some families who also shun faders. I am not saying yours will, but some do.

My Experience after Bethel Part 2

as i mention before i was going to move to california when i left bethel, to get way from debbie's parents.

so i thought the best thing to do was to go to the service department and ask them were they "needed help" in the bay area of northern california.

this shows you how totally delusional i really was at the time.

Hiding girls in your room....classic! And I felt bad for looking the other way while my bethel roommate made out on the couch with his girlfriend. Never turned him in though.

Seriously, I understand the 'not giving them ideas' thing but this isn't rocket science; they've known for decades that they could divorce the partaking them emblems thing from the heavenly hope thing. I mean, we're talking about the organization that came up with, or resurrected from some other source, the overlapping generation teaching. If they can teach that, then they can teach anything.
