Candy
by duffy inyears ago, while i was still in, i heard coworkers talk about jws leaving candy on their porch.
i had to tell them i knew nothing about that practice and that i thought it sounded kind of cheesy to be honest.
over the years i 've heard the same comments about jws leaving candy behind when they find no one at home...

That's what I thought at first, but I talked to each of them, these were people who took the time to talk to the witnesses. The candy often accompanied literature. The reason I was thinking it might be somewhat official is that it's occured in different areas of the PNW over time.

when did you stop believing?
by cherryblossomgirl inthe light faded for me when i was twelve.
i asked my uncle what happened to all the people who couldn't be reached by the "truth" in far off lands, or little kids whose parents didn't believe...ect... "would they still die in armagedon?
" he answered yes, and from there on, whether it was bs or not, i couldn't believe.

I think the disbelief began at a circut ass. in Canada back in the late 80's. I was down because my wife had run off (again) and now had my son. This 'sister' who was in a wheelchair, all gnarled up from some degenrative disease and had been for probably longer than I had been alive, was asking why I had been missing meetings. I told her I was depressed about my situation. She told me that she NEVER GOT DEPRESSED because she prayed so much. This woman who had to have someone else take care of her every intimate detail for decades. She never got down or sad or anything. I felt two things; the first was like a lousy piece of sh*t because I was sad over losing my family. The second, She was full of sh*t.

Why would a company with child abuse scandals be leaving candy,of all things?

Thank you for the welcome. I had my first adult birthday party in my life. I gave them up when I was eleven and my parents started studying in earnest. Since being on my own, I've had no problem accepting birthday presents and cards, but since I was born on a major party holiday, it has been difficult to get my friends together in one place. I told my friends who are also my bosses all I wanted was a party for me, where the countdown to New Years' was not the focus. And they came through for me as well as over thirty other friends. It was probably the most meaningful gift I've ever recieved. I think back and I couldn't even get a hug from my 'brothers and sisters' when my wife ran off with my son...Life is so much better now.

I joined in mid 2004 but all my info was on my old computer. It finished it's earthly course and took all my passwords and crap straight to harddrive hell. Now I have a shiny new laptop and a new name. A little about me; I just (12/31) turned 43, I lean toward agnosicism I am divorced, with one son who is involved with some big-box church. I just stopped attending meetings so I have no idea what my status among the jw's is. I have serious insomnia. I experienced apathy and indifference at the hands of my "brothers" and "sisters". I could have continued sliding under the radar, but I was tired of seeing the guys that I knew were secretly doing all the wrong things get better treatment than me, and I was keeping my nose clean. My roommate was smoking, he was drinking at his job (We worked together) as well as sleeping on the job too, yet he was like some favored son. Anyway, it's nice to know I'm not alone in what I'm feeling.
