are there jws who prepare for the tribulations they assume are around the corner?
when i visted the us once in 1999 i met a few guys who were expecting a global meltdown due to the millenium bug.. as a consequence they had generators, guns, ammo, tins of food, bottled water, fuel, all kinds of stuff to help them through a civil disorder situation.
does anyone know or remember any jws who have prepared like this?
toilet paper like you could not imagine
What is up with people who stockpile toilet paper? My father-in-law has about 20 cases in his garage. I'm not sure if he's preparing for Armageddon or a really bad case of diarrhea.
So skeeter, what did your parents do with all those barrels of flour?

I am so sorry you have to go through this.
My own mother shuns me, I can't figure that out either. I don't blame them though, I blame the evil empire that brainwashes them into thinking that shunning a close family member is what God wants you to do. Maybe they believe that if they shun you, you will be so lonely that you will return to the Watchtower. I doubt they hate you, they are just brainwashed.
Take comfort in those that love you for who you are. I will be sending some good thoughts your way.

I never knew that "Read Watchtower and Awake!" occupied a higher position than "Read God's Word the Holy Bible Daily"!

It was going fine until my JW in-laws dropped by for an unexpected visit. They came to see if we were apostates or not. We got into for an hour and ended up debating Christmas, the Faithful and Discreet Slave, whether JW are the true religion, the uN and some other things I can't remember at the moment. It was exhausting.
I did get them to agree to look at some literature about the WT joining the UN.
My MIL was horrified at the thought of the WT being a part of the UN, you should have seen here face.
It was very stressful. I just had to take a Xanax.
i have been having a discussion with scholar.
and like most discussions with a jw we aren't getting too far.. scholar insists that the wts/jws are known for:are known internationally as a clean and moral peopleour organization alone stands as a beacon of truth, hope and faithadvance people spiritually, emotionally and physically.
there are other wonderful qualities that he attributes to the wts/jws but that is usually the gist of his remarks.. of course most x-jws will say something quite different.. the experiment is this:.
This experiment was a great idea. It really proves how much their "good reputation" is all in their minds.

Several years ago, I remember a somewhat secret JW Star Trek Forum. It was black and green and had a cool name like "Moon Base Alpha" or something. There were tons of JWs on it. I think the admin was from England.

in response, riverside county lawmakers wanted to put a moratorium on permits for new sprint cellular towers, but they discovered they don't have authority.
This is absolutely outrageous. There is no excuse for this. Whoever was involved should be immediately fired and the company should be heavily fined.
There should be a boycott of their service. I have Sprint PCS and my contract ends next month. I will cancel and find another carrier.
Anyone have any recommendations?
