I just noticed that one of the big JW MySpace groups has disappeared. It was called, JWs Lights of the World, or something like that. I wonder what happened.

The warnings were TRUE
by unique1 inyou know all the myspace.com warnings that were on here about elders on a witch hunt searching for active jw's blogs and using them against them?
well the elders didn't search but an old aquaintenance did.
she was disfellowshipped for her blogs concerning all the casual sex she was having.

Dick Cheney involved in a shooting
by IP_SEC ini saw this in the news paper today.
busted a gut laughing.. reuters.. washington (reuters) - the white house was bombarded with questions on monday about why it failed to go public with news that vice president dick cheney shot a fellow quail hunter until the day after the accident.. the victim, harry whittington, 78, took pellets in his cheek, neck and chest when cheney fired his shotgun while aiming for a bird during a hunt in southern texas on saturday, and was in stable condition at a corpus christi hospital.. whittington was moved out of intensive care on monday afternoon but peter banko, administrator of christus spohn hospital, said he did not know when he would be discharged.. "his condition continues to be stable ... it's not critical, it's not serious.
he's in stable condition, doing extremely well," banko said.. the accident happened about 5:30 p.m. on a private ranch about 200 miles south of san antonio, where the vice president has hunted previously.

I'm sorry but, I had to laugh when I read that the guy Cheney shot was a lawyer.

Complete ban on smoking in public places just passed in England
by ballistic infrom summer after next, smoking will be banned in any public place including pubs and clubs in england.. although i plan on giving up again, i still don't agree with government interfering like this.
they had previously.
made proposals for some pubs to remain licensed for smoking which i thought would have been a workable compromise.

I'm okay with banning smoking wherever food is served. Nothing like trying to eat a meal with smoke drifting in your face. I've never understood why someone can't go 30 minutes to an hour without lighting up, especially right before or right after a fine meal.
I've seen people light up while eating and then use the plate for an ashtray. Gross.
There is nothing worse than going out for a nice meal and then ending up with a migraine because some jerk was blowing smoke in your face. Florida has a ban on smoking inside restaurants and in bars that serve food. Many restaurants in town have screened porches where smokers can eat and smoke. Smokers can go to the bars that don't serve meals and non-smokers can go to the pub for a drink. Everybody wins.

Do you miss the sense of Superiority?
by Dune inwell i'm slowly wrapping up my stay in jw land, but as i move further and further into the year, i've noticed that my views of the world are slowly changing.
no more am i just a watcher who feels completely aloof of the world's struggles and injustices.
i dont look at activists, philantropers and humanitarians and silently laugh to myself because i know that whatever they are doing is a waste of time (because the end is so close).. i was listening to that song by the flaming lips called "do you realize?

I think one of the unique things about being a JW is the sense of security,
It's a false sense of security though.
Personally, I feel much better now that I am in touch with the world. I was always disturbed by the fact that witnesses didn't do anything to help the poor and the sick. Realizing that I can make a difference in someones life, even if it's just giving my time, is better than any self-righteousness I felt as a JW.

What effect did armaggeddon/possible persecution have on your mental state?
by jambon1 ini was`nt brought up in the `truth`.
i have recently left and am amazingly happy.. one thing that got to me was my mental state of mind which became extreemly negative about the future.. i worried very much about non jw relatives (good people) dying at armaggeddon.
also reading the endless accounts of bros/sis being brutally tortured/raped etc really disturbed me.

This pic above (not from the WT) is nearly identical to a Black and White 2' X 4' "visual aid" that my Elder dad used in public talks all over during the mid 1960's.
That picture is beyond gruesome. Sadly, that doesn't suprise me.

she was,"troubled that she didn't know if she loved jehovah enough to withstand being raped at the great tribulation ".
That poor, poor woman. That is one of the saddest things I have ever heard.
I'm sure that the fear of Armageddon and the tribulation contributed to my PTSD. I was in constant fear of the tribulation. My biggest fear was being forced into a concentration camp, having my glasses taken from me and then being shot because I couldn't see well enough to work. Ten year olds should not have to worry about this kind of stuff.

Trinity pamphlet, - a response & research
by Kristofer ini'm not sure how much of this is old news to y'all but after being handed this literature, i was trying to find evidence on the ante-nicene fathers it quotes in this pamphlet.
i figured, if early christians didn't believe in it, then, to me anyway, the doctrine held some water.
i stumbled upon this essay by eric francke which is a direct response to the pamphlet and very well written in my opinion.

yes jehovah os lord ans so is jesus.and we have to be thankful to both of them.but this doesnt not mean they are the same person.
The WT grossly misrepresents the trinity. The Christian view of the trinity is far different from what the WT claims it is. The trinity doctrine never claims that Jesus and the Father are the same person as this picture illustrates:
