If you are not pagan you should not be celebrating this holiday, since it is based on pagan origins. All of you who celebrate it is disrespecting pagan beliefs to the highest degree. Sad people, sad people. But anyways, I celebrate it because it's freakin fun. Couldn't care any less about where it came from, I don't celebrate jesus, I don't celebrate the pagans and I don't care. It's my own holiday just like it's everybody elses own holiday. If you have to be so empirialistic to claim relative holidays for yourselves is just sad. Why can't we just BE freakin happy without having some context and irrational opposition to it?

That is all that Hibs has been preaching. I haven't heard one bit of analytical questioning or truth to support the claim that Hibs has been preaching, all it has been is emotions and baseless claims. What people will do to themselves to keep themselves in the blissful state of being right is just plain sad.

A Customer really pissed me off yesterday at work: SHE WANTS TO PRAY for me

it is a large chain of 83 stores in 8 states and does about 100 million a year.. .
i'm in charge of the religion and the philosophy sections.. .

I take a person wanting to pray for me as an offense. It's usually in a quick l ess than 5 minute conversation and the person is usually praying for me for God to change my mind. That's considering my point not even valid enough to consider as a possibility and actively suggesting this hulking dangerous idea to actively change my mind. Debate, do not wish for my blind compliance.

Hibs. From every thread I have ever seen you in I have found that you can't change or accept new information in conversations (On the internet at least). There has been pointed out NUMEROUS times that the X is just as valid as the word christ itself. Concede and accept the information or stay intellectually dishonest.

by POs Son intoday my mother, a devoted jw of 40+ years, expalined to me that studying the watchtower publications "taught her" how to study!
she went on to describe how the weekly watchtower study taught her how to truly study, by underlining the most important part of the paragraph.
funny, i do not recall that as the primary method of study for the rest of the world - most of the textbooks i have read did not have a numbered set of questions at the end of each paragraph.

It is just sad how they underline the paragraphs and it be the whole freakin paragraph. It's so childish and this is all the Watchtower can give em over almost a hundred years of doing it. Just cringe when my mom said that nobody else is teaching people like they are about public speaking and about the world. Just makes me want to slap some sense into them and say, "Have you freakin met the whole world let alone know what colleges teach? If you don't then shut up!"

why doesn't the wts point out the new light (tm) when it is published and do a compare and contrast study so jws are fully aware of the change and the ramifications of the change?.
to this day there are many jws who are unaware of the generation change in 1995.

Love is NOT a Human Need
by logansrun inone of the most difficult things for ex-jehovah's witnesses (heretofore referred to as ex-jws) to deal with is the loss of friends and family -- "loved ones.
" rejection hurts, and the pain seems to be very intense for some.
ex-jws seem validated to feel so awful since most humans naturally believe that love is a human need.

Needing to feel a part of something can be argued to be a human need. When we are not associated with anything (even if it is made up) our lives are shortened, we have higher possibilities to die of heart disease. I'll have to find a few studies on this but it is true. This need to feel a part of something drives most of our lives. So I don't know, you can live without love, but the toll it takes on your life is arguable.
