  basically i have been reading the bible lately & doing extensive research on the web and have come across many things in my search...any imput put on various scriptures or sites i would appreciate.... .

  first of all i found more than a few religions that resemble the teaching of the jw's...so can they honestly say they are the only ones with the "truth"?

  scriptures i came across in my studies this week (if you have any other translations of these same scriptures please quote them in ur response i have 2 kjvs as well as the nwt that i am using...thanks!

  thank you all for welcoming me to the board....i have been quite busy reading other threads...i am so happy to have found this site of such a supportive group....i have been sobbing because of mario's thread...the loss of his daughter...i think i should take a breather for a bit...

  thanks again for all of your comments! & i also wanted to thank you for the links as well! i truly feel happy today for the first time in a long while...happy that in my search for truth and answers i actually found people to talk to that understand what i am feeling and going through...im just gonna get all mushy if i keep typing...

  thanks to everyone that has replied to my posts. i look forward to getting to know everyone & their experiences & where they are now. i have many questions of course even tho i left the org around 3 years ago. sometime after august of 2004 i thought i would "try" to go back. while i felt very welcome at this new congregation i also thought about how could i rightly say i believe things that i dont totally agree with now...so my family (4 kids 9,11,15,17) & i decided together that we should study from home before we make any decisions...

  the hardest thing leaving was that i lost all the friends i had only to find out later some were only my friend becuz of the org itself not becuz of me....out of obligation & becuz we were told not to associate with "worldy" people...i felt i was constantly judged by others within the congregation especially those that werent even aware of my situation....i stayed in an abusive & unfaithful relationship alot longer than i should have becuz i told i should stay and rely on Jehovah...theres so much more of course but i would be here the whole day typing! lol ...

  earlier today after i posted i had to run some errands and while i was out i started thinking of what it means to "worship God in spirit & truth"...from what i was taught it meant that could be only one true religion ( & i could be wrong there could be just one ) but when i pondered today i thought what if it meant just that?... worship in TRUTH and SPIRIT...truth meaning being honest with God in your own personal life & your worship to Him... as the scriptures say "each of us will render an account for himself to God" Romans 14:10 - 12 & not to be judging one and other....who can judge what God sees as acceptable worship from an individual?...and in SPIRIT...why would a loving God destroy those who sincerely give of themselves & are walking in all honesty with Him keeping His commandments?

  and why does there need to be a debate with other christian religions as to what Jesus died on a stake or cross....does that matter at all? the fact and importance is the blood he shed while he was dying....thats what i read is important....

  and the issue with idols...rather than explain with would u wear an image of a gun around your neck...blah blah blah...what happened to going directly to what God has to say?...its plain and clear no arguement can be made...Isaiah 44:9-20 ...but how do you know that the person that is wearing the cross necklace or has a cross hanging up is in fact worshipping it...bowing down and praying to it directly...some wear it as a symbol of their faith...not as something to be worshipped...while there are people who actually bow down and pray to it as if God or Jesus is somehow living inside it...

  sorry if i seem to ramble on....these things come to mind & i need a place to let them out...i hope i didnt offend anyone with any of my statements ...that is not my intentions ...these are just my thoughts & observations......i think too much sometimes

  another thing i forgot she had said was that i needed to be at the meetings when i told her i study the bible at home with my kids and on my own....she said that wasnt enough....i can only get Jehovahs spiorit at the meetings....but isnt there a scripture thats says where there are 2 or 3 gathered in my name, there i will be....?...cant seem to find it at this moment...can anyone help?....

  hi all. i am new here. just found this site yesterday. my story is quite long so i will probably post it another time. just a lil background...i learned the "truth" through a friend who was disfellowshipped & studying to get reinstated...i was 22 when i studied...baptised when i was 23 (im 31 now)..."drifted away" due to depression..& later learned i was disfellowshipped without my knowledge a couple years ago...i have been in & out of deep depression & am still trying to heal...so please go easy on me...i am trying to find my way in this world as well as have a relationship with God and His Son...anyone who has left the org knows how hard it is out there & i am sure understands my feelings....

  basically i have been reading the Bible lately & doing extensive research on the web and have come across many things in my search...any imput put on various scriptures or sites i would appreciate....

  first of all i found more than a few religions that resemble the teaching of the JW's...so can they HONESTLY say they are the only ones with the "Truth"?

  scriptures i came across in my studies this week (if you have any other translations of these same scriptures please quote them in ur response i have 2 KJVs as well as the NWT that i am using...thanks!) :

  Ecclesiates 12:11-14 NWT....vs 12:as regards anything besides these, my son take a warning: TO THE MAKING OF BOOKS THERE IS NO END, AND MUCH DEVOTION [TO THEM] IS WEARISOME TO THE FLESH. vs 13: the conclusion of the matter, everything having been heard is: FEAR THE [TRUE] GOD & KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS. FOR THIS IS THE WHOLE OBLIGATION OF MAN.(see vs 14)

  KJV ...vs 12: my child i warn you to stay away from any teachings except these. THERE IS NO END TO BOOKS & TOO MUCH STUDY WILL WEAR YOU OUT. vs 13: EVERYTHING YOU WERE TAUGHT CAN BE PUT INTO A FEW WORDS: RESPECT AND OBEY GOD! THIS IS WHAT LIFE IS ALL ABOUT.

  what are your thoughts on these scriptures...my thoughts as i prayfully studied made me think of all the magazines...books published and required to study....i had always looked to them as bible aids...but when i read this scripture i felt different...shouldnt God's Word be enough?

  another scripture was of not forsaking the gathering together....Hebrews 10:24,25...gathering together was to be of encouragement not to discourage....so when you see someone is having trouble or is down why arent they reaching out to encourage those ones? it seems the meetings have become (unless they always have been) a place in which you are constantly being told what & what not to do & you are constantly being scolded for feeling any other way...i hope what i am saying makes sense...

  and again during my studies this week i read....that we should pray for one and other...love your enemy....keep without spot from the world....etc..... should we not being praying for others then to have a relationship with God, to follow His Commandments ( not those made by men ) as well as for ourselves....& that we should watch our own step....

  a woman i had been baptised with messaged me a week or so ago (after 3 yrs or more)...she was telling me how she now had a great home and was finding herself becoming materialistic & not wanting the end to come yet...but then she did a big turn around and began to put me down becuz i had not returned to the org...she said she has been and is loyal to Jehovah....and when i told her of my research & my experience she said for me to stop having a pity party and that everyone has been misunderstood some time or another...as far as the research part she said to me .."i am of the 'learned ones'...i did research...they just want to pollute Jehovah's org...he is a God of orgnization...if this isnt the Truth then what is there is no truth"....well i pointed out the false prophesies... her reasoning was that they made mistakes and admit them....the new light theory etc(more of excuse)...

  but if thats so then shouldnt we believe that all "christian" religions has some form of truth to them then...and that they just havent come to the new light?

  i have more i would like to discuss...but would like others opinions on these
