  When Someone does something so special and they don't have a clue....

  it makes me cry.. for instance.

  i was coming back from a funeral this weekend.

  it was a long 10 hour drive and having had such a cruddy two weeks and especially day before prior, it was quite a shock when my travel companion pulled over in miama ok of all places and insisted we see loretta lynn.

  It came at such a great time, as I had been feelig down about a few things.

  Great how the smallest thing can make you just love that person more or even change your whole perception of them also. You should tell him he did well. I am a firm believer in letting people know what they mean to you and how great the small things are. Often I look silly, but more often than not it so helps them to know they did something right and that is all it took!!

  What really got me is I don't think I ever mentioned liking her, and maybe it was just the fact I was there that I got invited, but I swear I just welled up with tears that there I sat listening to someone I have not heard in probably 15 or 20 years really and I had a beer in one hand and an old lady with a pocketbook on my other side, a big smile on my face and a huge piece of sweet in my heart. At that moment I could not think anything exept HOW GREAT LIFE WAS. I don't think anyone would even think twice that I would even like her. It was great.

  It makes me cry.

  For instance. I was coming back from a funeral this weekend. It was a long 10 hour drive and having had such a cruddy two weeks and especially day before prior, it was quite a shock when my travel companion pulled over in Miama OK of all places and insisted we see Loretta Lynn. Now that was a treat.

  It was something I would never do for myself, secretly always wanted to do. It stirred some hidden childhood emotions and well just plain touched my heart that someone would not be too manly as to pass this kind of a show by and yet kewl enough to not care if it was strangeto stop in the middle of a trip to take me with them into Loretta Lynn.

  I know this is crazy sounding, but it really was sweet. I am impressed. Like when someone gives you a wake up call or brings you coffee just because they know you will not get up in the AM just because you have been overtired lately.

  What was a really touching thing someone has done for you recently that they have no idea how much it meant to you? I would like to know.

  now i only drive automatic transmission cars....because there is so much traffic and too many stop signs.

  it becomes annoying.

  i used to love driving manual transmissions, but no more.. the internet is one other thing that i wouldn't be able to do without.. how about you?.

  when did i discover this?

  i was brought up by an alcoholic mother and step father, life was miserable, told never to tell what was going on to other family members.

  my elder siblings left home as soon as they could to marry.

  There were some good things about the organisation...

  i have read a number of experiences in this discussion forum and quite frankly, i would have to agree that many, if not all, were pretty terrible experiences if not all together traumatic.

  i know that my personal 9-11 tragedy resulted in finding out that the watchtower society was involved with the united nations.

  that pretty much said it all as far as my "career" in the organisation was concerned.

  DISA- I think that the points you mentioned have to be taken with a grain of salt..hehe...so to speak.

  Yes we did learn some of those skills you mention. But it is a sad fact that what I have lost has outweighed what I gained and what I HAVE gained, I would gladly give back for less hard lessons.

  It is kind of like the JW's themself preach about not needing to roll in the filth to appreciate being clean. I personally have become in some ways such a tough person. I really do not want to be this tough and I really do not think it was what the organization was meaning to teach me.

  I agree with what someone said that about the knowledge given was really a let down when I saw how much more people who actually had participated in educational advancement, or sports or extra activities had been taught. I thought that because I can whip up a speach and deliver it in a few minutes flat...that I had gained so much. That was until I met people who were in Toastmasters and or professors, or fellow students. They did not have to give up youth and later the whole family and friends just for being human. They could give a speech, have an opinion, make mistakes, and still have love from the people who claim to love them.

  It really sobers me up to see how much I dont have. Yes I am very appreciative for what I do have. I just wish I had less hurt also.

  Sometimes the juice just "ain't" worth the squeeze. I really hope this is not someone trying to sway others to a marketing scheme. Lots of people get together here and chare talents and such...just seems a bit too invasive to try to jump into a board and start talking marketing or money. Makes people suspicious.

  how many of you ex witnesses out there became irritating bastards to family and friends when you left the organisation?

  did you push your believing mate right out the door with your verbal assaults?

  did you send out a long letter to all of your witness family and friends telling them what a lying cult the watchtower organisation is?

  I was very angry and years after, I would get all teared up and mainly took it out on myself and destructive behavior. I tried not to bring it up, but if asked I would say the manest sh$%$t.

  Now I have found a lot of the anger and such have left for the most part. Some things still get me. Fortunately for me I am not very good on staying on the subject for a long time. So if I loose it, I forget I am mad very quickly...Just let me vent. I stopped the crazy behavior.

  Odrade-Yes she was a blast and sometimes I think that as warped as I was by the cult...it was her persistance and outright crassness that got through to me. That is what it took. What I had embedded in me was so deep that It took someone as loud as her to get through to me.

  Panda-I think the things she taught me will stick for a long time. Especially the items she taught my kiddos to do behind my back. It is good though because I used to be so JW rigid. Thanks

  Natat- That is a propane tank. Everyone is lamenting because now they have painted it. I cant wait to see how.
