Meeting x-dubs. That sounds awkward. I have long put aside that, and my parents don't even attend the meetings much since my dad's disfellowship.
I can relate. I am normally shy when it comes to meeting new friends (ex-dubs or not) and have canceled a few times with them because of this. I have to say though, I pushed myself going to a few apostafest and I really do feel I can call on a few (actually a bit more than a few) now when I'm feeling too lonely. Before them, I had no friends. The only thing I had was my kids which was lonely since I couldn't talk "adult" talk with them. Yes, it sounds "awkward" but it really comes natural once you can bring yourself to go. For several years I have been with 0 friends but I have slowly built up a few that I feel comfortable with.
i am so excited about christmas, i've only celebrated 2 since 1978.. i will be having a mini - apostafest with some jwders on the saturday after christmas along with family (even some of my ex-husband's family).

Some people even paint one wall with chalkboard paint..then they can erase the drawings
Yes, we had a "play room" where one wall was a wall painted with chalkboard. Though, I can't do that now since I live in an apt. but my kids knew that the only wall they were allowed to draw on was that particular wall. People thought that would get them to write on the other walls but they didn't and I think it was because they had their own wall. I do miss that.

Who says they still wouldn't like it? I know that if my grandmother had "craft day" I'd be all over it. Now there is scrapbooking for older ones. Maybe make it to where you have an "adult" craft party or craft time. Just a thought.
