I had a lot of difficulty with authority after I exited. I do know part of that has to do with the cult.

Spanking VS. Reasoning
by SpeedRacer ini am having a discussion at work with the jw's.
should you spank a child to make them understand or do you reason with them.
they both agree with spanking.

The idea behind spanking is that it serves as an adjustment/punishment for someone who you cannot reason with - redvip2000
I just remembered the wts came out with some sort of instruction to parents that they could terminate corporal punishment at "the age of reason", but it was not required. IIRC, that was considered (among dubs) to be progressive and newfangled doctrine, and only the most modern dubs were implementing it. The most faithful continued to "use the rod or spoil the child", no matter the age.
I personally had my last beating the day of my high school graduation. For the first time, I held Mommy Dearest's arms back and told her, "Never again."

the flood, mammoths, elphants, and food.
by Crazyguy inmy question is since it looks as though mammoths were alive after the flood and we know elephants are then how much food was needed to feed just these four animals for the time they were on the ark.
also was the ark, 500 feet long, big enough to hold the amount of food needed for just these 4 animals.. .

Most of all his thoughts and ways are higher than ours so we will never understand totally his logic.
He made us in his image, and wrote a book about all this so we'd know what happened. After all that, why leave us not understanding?
He created the laws of nature. Why abandon them for only 40 days?
He says he's a god of love. How can you believe that while knowing he drowned so many of his creations alive and awake? And why the innocent ones (animals)?
There is plenty of proof positive no global flood ever occurred.

I don't have children and I am not the product of a "humane spanking" parenting model. My experience is limited to what anyone nowadays would call abuse. There were daily "spankings" with objects, open and closed fists. The "reasoning" was limited to nonsense from the likes of the Youth book.
What I can tell you is I was a skeptical child, always needing a reason to agree or believe. My abusive parent punished corporally for refusal to agree with wts doctrine, physically defending myself from bullies or even just having the wrong look on my face. It was a daily event.
I do not love this parent, to this day.
My UBM parent did reason with me and it worked.
Pretty much the theme was, "Yeah, when I was your age I used to think my parents were so old and I was the only one who [insert whatever event had happened that included me acting up]. But then I realized I was wrong. Kids are all the same no matter what generation they're in. It seems like a big deal now but it won't in the future. All you have to do is wait. Now you can keep acting up but it won't make anything better."
I remember talks comparing children to beasts in the field who "needed" to be beaten to learn--there was no other way to learn. I used to quote scriptures that said not to exasperate your child, and then be beaten for that!
I would be interested in learning from (now) adults who were lightly spanked, "appropriately" (if there is such a thing).

This family has been a public relations nightmare for wts more than once now. Talking to the media, protesting in a bikini, YouTube, tangles with authorities, and now a tabloid. They're a major liability.
Even if they are privately reproved, we all know there will probably also be a special needs talk about bringing reproach upon Jehoopla by saying things to the media or on the Internet, and how people who do so should be marked and shunned, thus achieving the same affect as DA/DF.
I hope they do what's right for their kid, beyond just blood. It sounds like they do not understand evidence-based medicine and think they know more than the evidence. This child is already suffering--such a shame he has to suffer more with all this unnecessary stress. I wish for them that they just take the recommended treatment, supported by evidence, and fade into the background.

Ashya King's mother in the newspaper before
by blondie inparent of brain tumour boy ashya king hit the headlines when living in milton keynes.
the now-famous mum of brain tumour boy ashya king hit the headlines here in milton keynes when she was pregnant with him, the citizen can exclusively reveal.. determined nagmeh king donned a placard over her six- month bump and paraded the streets in a bikini during a battle with a private school five years ago.. she and her husband, who braved arrest to get the right treatment for ashya, lived next door to the grove independent school on redland drive, loughton, for several years, and were prominent members of the citys jehovahs witness community.. a war of words involving lawyers, council official and even police erupted when the school chopped down a boundary hedge, which the kings insisted was theirs.. the row had rumbled on for five years without any resolution until 2009, when then-mum-of-five mrs king took matters into her own hands.. i have walked outside the school with my placards between 8am and 9am every morning, she told the citizen at the time.. im not protesting im just spreading the word as a jehovahs witness should.. other parents complained as she mounted one protest dressed only in her underwear.
but mrs king insisted she was wearing a bikini.. its not shameful or wrong to wear a bikini when youre pregnant, she said.. a neighbour said: it is a crazy sight a half naked pregnant woman protesting outside a private school.. the kings, who described themselves as missionaries at the time, became even angrier when they replaced the hedge with a fence and the school removed it, saying it was on their land.. the family was accused of dumping rotting rubbish on the disputed boundary line, hanging washing outside the window of school head deborah berkin, and playing loud music during school hours.. milton keynes council confirmed it had been called out several times by the school over dumping, while environmental health officials were monitoring the music levels.. mrs king vowed she would continue to fight, saying: the school had no right to take away our privacy.. three months later little ashya was born.. today jehovahs witnesses across the city are remembering the family fondly and praying for ashyas treatment to be a success.. meanwhile neighbours who once watched mrs kings bikini protests are full of admiration for her courage in defying the nhs.. one said: she is a woman not scared of doing battle.

I remember that news story about the pregnant woman in a bikini. Sounds a bit unlatched in context.
I wish these people would get their child the proper medical care ASAP.

The insensitivity and opportunistic nature of witness at the 9/11 site !
by stuckinarut2 ini saw an online post with pictures of all the witnessing carts all around the 9/11 site during the anniversary of the tragedy.... im appalled at how opportunistic they are, and how they prey on people in a mourning and vulnerable state!.
apparantly they boast of: "there are 65 carts, with 200 witnesses manning the area... and so far 15 new studies started!".

"Give the people something better to remember."
What could that be...hmm...ooh..I've got it! Let's remember that Bethel locked their gates during the attacks rather than being a place of refuge for people seeking safety. The House of God locked its doors when its neighbors needed basic safety.
