  What if.....the impossible happened?

  what if the almighty gb announced that all shunning will cease, and next minute all the people who have shunned you start calling and texting saying "hi, we're baaaack, we can talk to you now!".

  Keep them on  my block lists just like always. (Facebook, email, etc.)

  Add them to my phone block lists.

  IOW, I don't want to have contact with them.

  JW Doctor mis-Illustrates a Blood Doctrine

  today i added a new article to my blog addressing an article written by a jw medical doctor in a regional medical journal.

  it's part of an initiative giving attention to how licensed medical professionals among jws have dealt with the blood transfusion subject.

  what they say, how they say it, and what they don't say are all very telling.

  i was totally p***d off about watchtower teaching u should keep your life simple and not investing in treasures in the earth etc while they are buying luxury apartments and forcing its residents out on the street including children.

  so i got on with an email and sent it as follows.

  ok, I guess I did not understand the sale price was the OP's objection. It sounded like buying something called "luxury" and not renewing leases was the issue.

  And good for him for giving the wts a little grief for their behavior.
  

  Anyway, OP, I'm not sure I understand your objection in regards to these apartments.  In the US, owners have a right to use their rental property for their own purposes and not renew leases for existing tenants. The tenants are aware of this when they sign the lease and move in. I'm sure it's disappointing, expensive and inconvenient for them to move, but it shouldn't come as a shock, and they're not "throwing them out on the street" really--just not renewing a lease. Unless I'm missing something?

  Is it the word "luxury" that's bothering you? You might be interested in this. Sounds like some people are of the opinion that these are the opposite of luxurious.
  

  What is the Charity Commission that you mentioned? Is it a legal entity with authority in New York State? I don't think so. The Attorney General's office has some authority over nonprofit organizations in NY but they do not get involved in complaints of this nature (people not liking what the money was spent on). They only get involved if there was a violation of law.

  it was announced from the platform in the same way, "so and so is disassociated," followed by 1 scripture about shunning and another about the specific sin that person had committed.

  the ritual shunning was exactly the same as dfing.

  millie, after that debacle in my congregation (most of the teenagers getting DA or DF within a matter of weeks), and the later change in procedure, there was a talk telling parents/kids to not avoid getting baptized so they can't be punished--something like, "Even if you aren't baptized, jehoopla reads hearts and you won't have the benefit of his discipline and maybe lose your life at Armageddon."

  ^stillin, did people stop shunning that individual after they were told to stop?

  Does anyone know of any case when shunning was stopped because of this change in procedure?

  it seems i can only log in under my previous user name, rubadubdub.

  i would prefer to keep my new account and log in under the user name sailaway.

  can this be corrected, or do i need to start a new account?

  one such disappointment in ourselves is that we know we should continue doing good unto others, but we're simply worn out.

  We really didn't do a lot of good for others. Our time was spent doing things to avoid the lightning bolt, such as preaching and studying.

  Hi Morpheus, in the 1980s for a while they had a different definition of "disassociated" than they do today. I'm referring to that old way of doing things.

  To answer your question, yes these individuals were subsequently to be treated as inactive but you know how it is with the more judgemental dubs. Once shunned always shunned.

  That was beautiful. Thank you for sharing that post.

  I did reach out to one person this happened to. She was involved with the dubs only for a short period of time and does not see it as a cult or anything beyond just a bunch of jerks. This shocks me. I believe she was 14 or 15 when she was DAd for "fornication" (which I later discovered could have been just kissing--they DAd a bunch of kids for this around the same time). She did not repent (I mean really? 15 year olds are kinda obstinate by their very nature. Why were they "created" to be defiant?). They announced it on the platform that we were to not say a greeting or eat a meal with her (you know, the scripture everyone knows means 'go shun this person'). They read a scripture about fornication. IMO this is child abuse and beyond disgusting. She was a CHILD.

  Her mom stayed in the borganization for a while with a child who refused to attend the meetings. That's the power of brainwashing--a mom rejecting her own child for being normal, in favor of a bunch of buttheads. It was so awkward for me--I was angry at the mom and at the borg. The mom woke up rather quickly and I was glad--I felt a parent should be on her kids' side when the kids are right.

  Anyway, I'm just wondering if she would still be shunned if she encounters dubs today. I'm thinking yes, even though New Light cancelled this out. Apparently they do not have Old Light Amnesia when it comes to shunning.
