Witnesses killed my friend today.
by WasOnceBlind intoday has been a horrible day.
what began as a day of joy finding out that one of my lifelong friends had her baby, turned into a nightmare when her brother called me to let me know she had passed away after birth.
i was in shock and didn't ask how.

On Page 3, the following scenarios are given.
Happening upon a stranger who just slit his wrists...would you call an ambulance? Yes I would, because I have no context by which to assess his ability to make that decision himself, it is not possible for me to think it through and decide ahead of time, and the situation is emergent so I'd have to rely on professionals. Also, why is the stranger in view of someone who could rescue him, if he doesn't want to be rescued?
Feeding someone poison is definitely not comparable to not interfering with an adult with free will adhering to a decision made over the course of decades.
Back to the scenario I mentioned in an earlier post, who's to say by not interfering, I am not saving somebody else's life? These are the same folks who physically abused me, brainwashed me, and allowed me to develop life-threatening hypovolemia. They are out recruiting new victims to this day, specializing on vulnerable people. If we were talking about people who were not evil and were not attempting to recruit more victims into the evil cult, then my course of action may be different. But they are the equivalent of Borg drones. Yes, including the elderly and infirm ones. -

The bible mandates stoning men who lie with men--not far off from what these men tried to do.

Double life
by Esmeralda001 inis there a way i can successfully live a double life?
don't get me wrong, i'm not trying to get engaged in activities that are condemnable according to the *bible* (not the *wt*) standards.
i figured that the only way i can get the brothers and sisters to leave me along is by pretending that i am an unemployed drop out.

Stop seeking the approval of these folks. That's how you do it. Fearlessly, unwaveringly, stop caring about the opinion of fools.
Then stop engaging in conversations about anything you don't want to discuss. "I couldn't imagine discussing that with you," said with a nice smile and abrupt change of topic, does nicely (and it feels great too). It's none of their business what your job or education plans are.

This is a very thought-provoking question.
Those of you who know me might be shocked at my answer, but here goes. I think I would not override their decision.
This could be colored by the fact that I truly have no jw relatives that I actually love.
I have a few minor jw relatives I've never met. I would agree for them to get blood because I figure they don't know any better.
My adult jw relatives might be dumb, ignorant and brainwashed, but they are all evil SOBs too. Also, I figure being related to a jw hemophiliac has given them ample opportunity to think this through, and it's their decision to make.

Years after I left and told them point blank I'd never be back, they assigned me talks and invited me to go to field service. ROFL. My mother told me I had to call them and say I wouldn't do the talk, otherwise there'd be nobody to do it when the time came. I said good--everyone will get some excitement! LOL
Well yesterday, the elders ask to speak to me, and tell me that if i plan on returning to jehovah, i had better shave my beard off.
This is so dumb, there is no intelligent response. So here's this.

So basically we don't get to hear the other side of the story, and we're asked to take this story at face value. -

by Gayle inhttp://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/01/nyregion/stalled-brooklyn-park-exposes-rift-with-religious-group.html?_r=0.
jehovahs witnesses have been criticized by community leaders for not fixing up parks in dumbo, brooklyn, as promised.

According to their own counsel, they must rectify this and build the park as promised.
They should just get one of the idle quick build groups to go down there one week and get it done. This would be a "good witness" and a significant change from their previous behaviors.
Let Your Yes Mean Yes
“Just let your word Yes mean Yes, your No, No.”—MATT. 5:37.
15 Proving true to our dedication vow means that we must also be faithful in other important matters. For example: Are you married? Then continue to honor the precious vow you made to love and cherish your marriage mate. Have you signed a business contract or filled out an application form for theocratic privileges? Then be true to your commitments and to what you have promised. Have you accepted an invitation to a meal by someone of humble means? Then do not cancel it if a seemingly better invitation is made by someone else. Or have you promised someone you met in the house-to-house ministry that you would call again to give that person further spiritual help? Then by all means let your Yes mean Yes, and Jehovah will bless your ministry.—Read Luke 16:10.
16. If we have failed to keep our word, what should we do?
16 The Bible states that as imperfect humans, “we all stumble many times,” especially in the use of our tongue. (Jas. 3:2) What should we do upon realizing that we have failed to keep our word? In God’s Law to Israel, there was a merciful provision for someone who was guilty of “speaking thoughtlessly with his lips.” (Lev. 5:4-7, 11) There is also a loving provision for Christians who commit such a sin. If we confess the specific sin to Jehovah, he will mercifully forgive us through the office of our High Priest, Jesus Christ. (1 John 2:1, 2) To remain in God’s favor, however, we must show fruits that befit repentance by not making a practice of such sins and by doing our best to make amends for any harm done by our thoughtless speech. (Prov. 6:2, 3) Of course, it is far better to think carefully before making promises that we are unable to fulfill.—Read Ecclesiastes 5:2.
18 By proving faithful in the final test at the end of Jesus’ Millennial Reign, we will never again have reason to doubt anyone’s word. (Rev. 20:7-10) Every Yes will mean Yes, and every No, No. For everyone then living will be a perfect imitator of our loving heavenly Father, Jehovah, “the God of truth.”—Ps. 31:5.
