Disfellowshipped for celebrating Xmas?

i could really do with some advice on what's acceptable when you leave.

we have left of our own accord about 6 months ago.

we didn't celebrate xmas this year but have just celebrated my daughters birthday.. a friend of mine who is still a witness told me that an elder had approached her and asked if we had celebrated xmas and that if we did it was a df offence as is classed as apostasy!

They can do whatever they want, since they make the rules.

It's not illegal for them to practice their religion, even if it involves changing other people's status. Example.

I would like to go to the hall when someone was going to be DFd, have them applaud and me clap and high-five them on the way out.

Perhaps this is a thing we should actually do.

*many* ex-jws say that they were robbed of an education due to the wtbts and as a result, they feel that their families and the wt screwed up their life by depriving them of the opportunity to go to college and therefore, earn a high salary at a job they love.

here is a link to the us census which shows that approximately 26% of the us population graduates college.

page 5, towards the bottom, shows the college graduation stats.

Pretty amazing!

The same selective breeding has been done with things we can now eat.

Unfortunately we've had people like Bush jr. putting genetic research to a stop because of religious ideology that is clearly not in line with truth...a lot of misinformed, sincere people believing false conspiracy theories about the food revolution that's safe and saving millions from starving...etc.

Disturbing how Christians Feel about Non-Christians

so i posted a question on yahoo answers asking about what christians feel god feels about non-christians.

the overwhelming answer was that he feels they must convert to christianity or risk hell/death/distruction (john 3:16).

i just don't understand how this could be!

There is a question discussed in many basic philosophy courses that is profound: The question of evil.

A loving god could not be all-powerful, all-knowing and all-good. The things preached by the creator and his son in the bible are inconsistent with being omnibenevolent.

Did you go to your ASSIGNED congregation?

the rule was (is) that you go to your assigned congregation.. growing up, i think our family was in our assigned congregation only one of three times.

the family made two major moves when i was a kid and each time my folks would visit the various congregations in the area and pick the one with the most kids.

given our association restrictions with the world, they wanted to make sure we had plenty of friends.. i have to give them credit where due.

It would be interesting to know if their fear is correct--is attending a non-assigned kingkongregation associated with subsequent inactivity?

I think they may be a bit off though. It's not always a causal relationship. Sure, the lights can turn on once you have a fresh perspective, or the pressure to participate is interrupted while you're moving. But...sometimes it's because people are trying to stay in despite serious concerns that they change kingkongs.
