Yes, JW_Rogue, but it's fun to dream.
I have a small collection of offensive t-shirts that I wear at home.
i want a t-shirt.
something that says "religion is crap, i don't care which one".. i was thinking of adapting the "coexist" one to say "toxic" instead which is great because it removes 'science' but includes all the major world religions.. anyone else have any ideas?.
also a tag-line ... "whatever god you worship, he's a weirdigan".

well, thats it folks.. my identity on here has been rumbled and reported to the elders.
someone, somehow, has figured out that im a member of this site and - rather than speak to me - has promptly reported me to the elders.
i just feel sad for my daughter.
To the lurkernarcs who meddled with pale.emperor's personal business:
Up your nose with a rubber hose.
i know that some people on the board have experience of being mormons, so i would be interested in your feedback.
at church this afternoon it was an uncanny experience.
in the past i've read a lot about mormons, so i thought i was prepared in general for what it would be like.
You must have a fondness for American cults.
so last thursday was meeting day.
my wife knows my thoughts on this religion and respects my fade and is completely ok with it (which surprised me, and also made me love her even more).
i think she must know it's all crack-pot stuff but seeing as her whole family are all in and about 98% of them cant even explain their beleifs without a watchtower on hand i think she's just going along for the friends/family/social side of it.
While i passed him, he spoke silently but obviously attention-grabbing to his wife: "He will leave us, he is not one of us".
He said this out loud? Wow. How about jehoho is the only one who can judge?
my name is tatersalad.
i have been disassociated for about six years now.
i have moved past most of my jw issues, but i feel like it would be cool to get to know others like myself.
Welcome to The Dark Side.

in behalf of the horrific events of saturday night, i just wanted to take a moment to remind everyone that islam is a religion of peace.
it doesn’t matter that the quran explicitly says that homosexuals should be stoned to death (7:84) - it’s still a religion of peace.
and it doesn’t matter that the scriptures say that all gay men should be killed (sunan 1:152) - islam doesn’t in anyway condone violence.. it doesn’t matter that every mainstream imam calls homosexuality a sin "worse the adultery" - it’s not a religion of bigotry.. it doesn’t matter that 61% of muslims in the uk think gay acts should be made illegal - islam has nothing against the gay community.. it doesn’t matter that countries with sharia law actively persecute the lgbt community - islam is all about peace and love.
Just had an exasperating, cognitive dissonance-filled discussion.
I was told:
The bible does not say homosexuals should be killed.
Leviticus 20:13; Genesis 19
The only reason hate crimes are done is because the person is filled with hate, not because the hate is fueled by religion. Religions do not teach us to hate or kill homosexuals.

I totally object to whitewashing religions. Society doesn't benefit from pretending religion is something it's not.

However, the elders are not authorized to coerce or pressure someone to remain as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Actually that's my favorite bit. This carefully crafted statement throws elders under the bus if anyone ever claims they were "pressured to remain a jw".
We all know pressuring someone, by use of threats and punishments, is standard operating procedure for elders--required, even--because not doing your due diligence to convince someone to stay in the borg makes you bloodguilty or lukewarm.
So now the elders are damned if they do and damned if they don't. If they do it, they're following the unwritten(?) rule and taking full blame for it. If they don't, they're not doing their job, can lose their rank and everlasting life.
The borg does really seem to have a publicist. This is masterful manipulation.
great news!.
we are free!.
as of the 9th of june, me and my dear wife mrs. eden handed over our letters of disassociation at bethel in portugal, thus making official our departure from the jehovah's witnesses.
Sorry to be off topic, but I am fascinated by this! Sounds like Portugal has a good idea there--you must attend a 1-day presentation about the military or you can't ever have a government job. Seems fair.
hello all, things for the most part have been somewhat better for me because my parents haven't talked about baptism or anything recently.
i got a scholarship to go to art camp for a few weeks which has been fun (since its free, my parents didn't refuse) but it has also been very nervewracking for me.
i haven't been around any non jws for more than a year and its like being in a different world, a world where people are actually real and genuine and not mindless drones.
Yeah, just be yourself and let them like you for who you are. When things get awkward, explain it in a matter-of-fact way and move on. "My parents are super religious and don't allow me to see movies. I don't agree with them and I don't plan to be like them once I move out of their house, but for now, I have to do what they say. Tell me more about Harry Potter!"
