We are always a compilation of our experiences, good and bad.
The only way we can overcome the bad is by replacing them with new experiences and knowledge.
can all indoctrination leave a person , or does it linger in background till death..

in my old congregation there are two brothers (non related) who are in the early 30s.
they've never dated girls.
they're "best friends".
Well look, in only 3 pages, this thread has covered most of the gay stereotypes. Quite an accomplishment.
OP, I think they are gay, asexual, or just late to bloom sexually. None of this is any of our business--not that it matters, since we are not identifying them. It sounds like they are somewhat happy, which is beautiful. I hope they free their minds one day.
has anyone else noticed how alarm bells go off inside a jw mind as soon as they hear someone that "is out" refer to the leaders of this org as "watchtower"?
i've chatted with a few friends now about my doubts and each and every time i've started using phrases such as "watchtower said this" or "watchtower did that", i can almost see their heads about to explode in anger, as if they've just realized they are talking to the lucifer himself.
some have even interrupted and corrected me by reminding me that it's not "watchtower", it's "god's organization".
I always thought this was because the postates were the ones who started criticizing "The Watchtower" during The Great Apostasy in the 1980s.

“the essence, the soul, of disco was shown to be free,“liberated” sexual expression….satan is manipulating this world for his own purposes, shouldn’t we expect that he would also use the world’s entertainment in his efforts to turn people from true worship?” awake 1979 dec 22 p.20.
to cure me of the demons i just caught, maybe i should say 5 hail marys look at jw dot org 3x and put a napkin on my head the next 5 times my husband is in the room.
Disco - Is it for you?
OMG I totally remember that article--it changed my life. I was 11.
All of a sudden, I could not hang around the kids in the neighborhood because they were engaging in homosexual African fertility dances.. (Don't ask me how it could be both homosexual and a fertility dance. The two would seem to contradict each other due to biology.)
I remember being told to refuse to listen to disco, watch TV and movies with my little friends because they were Satanic, fertility rituals, and gay. I am telling you, only abused 11-year olds talk like this. It is just so abnormal.
I lost a good friend over this specific magazine. To this day, she remembers this, as do I.
And all we were doing is dancing around in her basement, getting good, healthy exercise, and watching a movie here and there.

Looks like completely wholesome fun to me, and good exercise. (Does anyone have the rest of the quote above? I remember talk of disco being a voodoo fertility ritual or something like that.)
deborah frances-white.
always a laugh and a blast from my past life on the gold coast.. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/women/life/ex-jehovahs-witness-deborah-frances-white-on-door-knocking-with/.
deborah frances-white is a comedian and writer.
She says MJ went door knocking in a limo. That is so odd...the rumor in the US is he went in disguise. A limo would draw attention.
it's been some time.
wondering if anyone remembers me from the 'old days'.
:).
I remember you.
I'm hanging around here only for the free beer.
many young jw women are "married off" to virtual strangers, often older men, soon after they are of legal age.. did this happen to you?.
did it happen to a close friend or sibling?.
tell us about it.. from universal life ministries on facebook:.
It does happen among JWs. They just cloak it thickly and pretend it isn't really arranged marriage.
I think I had a thread about it years ago, where people told their stories.
I was heavily pressured to marry a bro older than me after meeting him 1 day (as far as I recall, it was so long ago). I think we went in FS one day or maybe twice. I enjoyed talking with him but had no romantic interest in him. He suddenly wrote me a letter stating he had prayed to jehoover to find him a bride with my specific physical attributes, so he knows our relationship was meant to be.
Everyone was really pressuring me to marry him right after that. He lived in a foreign country. I just...what the...I told them all they are wackos. (This honesty about them being wrong might have something to do with my lack of popularity.)
The "arranged" part was that he was sent in FS with me as a hook up. He was single and at the KH one Sunday, and the group decision was I would be matched up with him.
ok not to throw no shade or no disrespect to the jw religion.
which i truly do respect because my girlfriend is part of but i just don't understand, i have researched so much about it.
so much about how its discouraged for her to be with me just cause of different religion.

the other day, this court decision was posted on jwn along with a link to the court document, but few expected the media to pick up the story.
so to all involved, i understand it was a surprise to see the story in print.
A part of me wants them to stay as crazy as possible, as a repellent.
The more mainstream they become, the more people will join.
