The Metropolitan Museum Oasis Bible Tours in NYC
by Beachlover ini just came home from a day in nyc and was taken to the met for the the woman and her offspring tour i went to keep peace and just enjoy my family.
i've been to the metrpolitan museum of art on many occasions and have enjoyed spending time wandering thru the exhibits appreciating the art and history.
since all family members wanted to do the tour by the wts entitled a woman and her offspring, i thought i could just follow along and just enjoy the art and exhibits.. in all honesty, i'm still amazed at this whole tour.

Hard to be completely respectful and the JW attitude
by scratchme1010 inrecently at work they conducted an mbti test for me.
for those who don't know, the mbti test is a personality test used by organizational psychologists in companies and organizations.
it is supposed to describe the best way you communicate, the best way of giving and receiving feedback, and for managers that test is supposed to explain to them the best way to manage their employees (i'm over simplifying, i know).. my profile came up as some kind of introvert (and when i was told that i said "what?

I had a thread on INTJs here a few years ago. INTJs tend to be skeptical and logical, so it makes sense more INTJs would make their way out of the borganization.
shortcuts in getting to know and learning how to work with people
That's exactly what the test is, IMO, which has pros and cons. If you use it to stereotype or not hire people, that's a bad thing. If you use it as a tool to better respect and communicate with others, that's a good thing.
As a former behavioral health clinician, IMO, a good amount of psychology is soft science and pseudoscience. IMO most personality tests are just that. But I do respect MBTI because it is fairly accurate and is simply describing who you are and how your brain reacts to things.

Children and Blood Transfusions
by Listener ina hospital in qld.

When I was a young kid in the 70's my nan used to go on about how bad aluminium cookware was and I didn't know what the hell she was on about.
Yeah, that was a big part of their litteratrash back in the day. I remember when I was a j-dub child, reading the old publications, and seeing those nutty cartoons and beliefs about pans/vaccines. The dubbies mostly acknowledged (then) that it was super weird and a product of Rutherford not having the light get brighter yet.
The truth is that the underlying anti-establishment, healthcare conspiracy beliefs continue to linger--born from that time. That inherited paranoia and refusal to believe facts is what's dangerous.
Let's never forget.

children assaulted with a transfusion
What I'm about to say is the cult equivalent of, "Why, back in my day, I had to walk 10 miles to school in the snow, uphill both ways."
They definitely considered it assault. Not only did they demand the parents resist and even deceive officials in order to avoid blood, they taught me to do so as well. We used to have resistance drills where I would lie to healthcare professionals about my symptoms, and plan for me to trick them to leave the room so I could pull out the needle and escape to the nearest payphone. I had to memorize the phone number to the KH and others in the cong who might pick me up, if I wasn't able to get in touch with the cult parent.
We rotated hospitals, just like abusive parents do, to hide the medical neglect.
If it is truly allowed for the parents to just shrug and say, "Oh well, whatareyagonnado?" and remain in good standing, this is a definite change in policy over the last 30 years.

If you give addicts or cultists the chance to define their label, they will usually give you a definition that is everything they personally are not. Alcoholic means somebody who drinks alone. Cultist is somebody who follows a single leader. And so on.
Us defining it is just keeping that problem going. "Apostates said___, so it's false." "Prohibitionists said ___, so I'll disregard it."
Good news--we don't have to. There are official definitions of these things. :)

This is the exact same thought I had over a decade ago.

My gay friend went back to JWs?
by schnell inone of my best friends was disfellowshipped several years ago, and word quickly got around that it was because he's gay.
we lost touch after that because of the disfellowshipping, but since i'm out now, i just found him online and got back in touch with him.
it was a great conversation, but he said he returned to jehovah.

I don't understand how any gay person can be xian in any way. The bible is clear about its hatred.
I have known some homosexuals who literally hate themselves because of who they are naturally as human beings, which conflicts with an historically incorrect collection of hate-filled, bizarre ramblings from the Bronze Age.
These dear ones have tried suicide, drinking themselves to death, and other horrible means of self-punishment.
The fear of being oneself, as one was born, is confusing to me.

I Think I have Found a Way to Litigate
by Simon Templar ini have been thinking about how the wtb&t society bullies all of its members into submission with the threats they use (by practice), i.e.
“if you do this we will df you and you will be shunned”.
“if you da yourself, we will make an announcement and your friends, relatives and family will abandon you”, etc.

So, in the eyes of your state constitution, "forced" = fearful of social and spiritual consequences if they don't?
I would be interested in reading the part of your constitution that says the following:
require the state to actively protect constitutionally guaranteed liberties against intrusions by private actors such as a religion and its hierarchy. This duty to protect can be a duty by the state to protect a believer from his/her religious community.

HLC and privacy rights
by StarTrekAngel insome time ago i used to work at a hospital.
when my family members would receive treatment at this place, often times they would ask me if i could look up information for them regarding their health.
i always had to tell them that privacy laws did not allow me to bypass the hospital's administration.

If someone accesses medical records or passses medical info on to any third party then they should be sacked, or if they are a nurse or doctor then they should be struck off. I'm sure the US will be the same
On Page 1 I posted a link to the rule about giving basic info to clergy and visitors in the US.
It is legal.
