That sheep is badass. He goes back for another round after the shepherd was down. Even the sheep dog backed down!
So brothers, how can we use this illustration?

let's start by saying that slavery is of course a terrible thing, one of the worst crimes imaginable, and that "slavery" rarely implies good treatment, anything noble or defensible.
nowadays, even god doesn't escape judgement from our enlightened views with passages about slavery in the bible usually glossed over because they are shameful.. but not all slavery was equal.. because of the media, movie industry, racial tensions in the us regularly shown on the news and our taught history, i think most people's knowledge and idea of slavery is that of the north atlantic slave trade where white people took africans to work in cotton fields.
this idea is probably also re-enforced because the largest group of descendents of slaves we see today are african americans (usually in the us or places they subsequently migrated to).. but it's incomplete.. it's only when you look into it more that you discover that there was much more to the slave trade than that, otherwise it would have been just called "the slave trade" and not "the north atlantic slave trade".. some 12.5 million slaves were taken from africa to the us with just under 11 million surviving the trip so it obviously took a terrible toll immediately, even before any maltreatment once they landed in the americas where conditions and treatment were truly awful.
Many countries did and do participate in slavery, as disgusting as that is.
And for chocolate lovers: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4498442
world population growth rate is 1.13%, whilst jehovah's witness average publishers grew by 1.8%.
watchtower growth is outpacing population growth, though at a dismal rate considering the 2 billion hours of preaching required for an increase of just 115,194. this is an aggregate number, and most growth is from developing nations in africa and south america.
what i was really interested in finding is how watchtower growth compares to the population growth in different countries.
Cool.
So to stop this deadly cult, we just need to slip birth control into the KH water fountains, and sprinkle it on the cheese danishes at the conventions.
Or create our own video with the j w dot org logo on it that says reproduction is banned because these are the End Times.
Or slip some coloring into the baptism pool and start a huge jw urban myth that demons infected the water.
to show respects for the older bro who died.. first thing i noticed.
the noise!..
jw never learn to sit and do so quietly.
I remember a study saying, "I have never seen so much social activity focused on food. I mean, you can't dance, you can't listen to music...so boring. All that's left is eating. And every jw get-together is an enormous buffet of fattening food."
"traumatic as the initial transition may be, it can lead to the development of a truly personal relationship with these two greatest friends [the father and the son] .
.. "whatever sense of 'belonging' that membership in some religious system may create, it can never compare with the power and beauty and strengthening benefit of the intimate personal relationship the scripture presents .
from reading joseph campbell i've come to understand that there are functions to religion or mythology.
hi friends .
i don't believe in jw doctrines anymore but because of family i have to be a jw for now.. i am not regular to meetings, and don't answer in meeting, but i report some hours so i remain as active jw now.. .
congregation knows that i am not spiritual and i don't talk to people and i don't care what they think about me.. now, i believe it's important to observe lord's supper as a christian as per john 6:53, so in the coming memorial if i attend i want to partake in the communion,.. i believe it is a sin to pass the bread and wine inspite of knowing it's flesh and blood of jesus.. it's like rejecting jesus.. so i want to partake.. but i dont consider i am anointed etc.
To support it by attending and then be disruptive when you attend? Totally your choice. It may do you some personal good by giving you closure or venting your feelings in a symbolic act.
If you plan to still attend meetings to stay in good standing with the dubs or family, then partaking will put a stop to that goal.
The best ultimate goal is to shed religion.
i was brainwashed to believe you generally shouldn't relax much.. demons can enter you if you meditate or even relax your brain too much for one second.
always be on guard.. scriptures criticizing laziness were repeated often.
https://www.openbible.info/topics/laziness "be kind to yourself" and all that.. you need to strenuously exert yourself for jehoopla and you're worthless if you don't.. most forms of fun were extinguished.
I was brainwashed to believe you generally shouldn't relax much.
As irrational as that all is, I still have a hard time totally relaxing. I start to get antsy if I've got little to do for >1 day--on vacations, I need a schedule and need to fill my brain up with interesting things. If I just lay around, I find it hard to concentrate at work, and I want my mental edge.
I am trying to figure out if this is just how I am (authentic self) or if I actually believe I do not deserve to relax too much. I suspect it's a little bit of both.
Anybody else experiencing this?
someone just told my wife, that those who are just leaving organization or not going anymore will be dfed, has anyone read that or heard of that?
i have seen nothing of that, and according to jackson at royal commission, we are free to go as we please...
They can df anyone they want, for any reason or no reason at all. There is no law restricting this. (If I am wrong, please post a link to the law.)
The circulation of this rumor repeatedly over the years is a control technique in itself.
came across this today researching something for work, and thought it was an interesting thought when applied to wt.
with so many fundamental changes and revisions, can they even be correctly viewed as what they are perceived as by active jws?
if your baptism was an oath of loyalty to the organization, which organization?
oops, I clicked dislike accidentally
