i would like to tell you guys about one of the things that bothered me most, despite of being something quite simple, but since it affected me directly, so.... well, being a ministerial servant, i knew the bad view the jw in general have towards beards.
I remember similar things happening in my congregation related to hairstyles. If you shaved your sideburns, you couldn't carry microphones. Or skinny ties.
I remember some young guys having a real issue with it. Looking back, I think it was their wake-up call and was not even the main issue they had with the religion. Something along the lines of, "You have f*(&)d up my life enough. The line must be drawn here. No further."
i think the bragging rights of parents would rule.
i've seen cos marry girls no older than there own children when their spouse has died..
They remind me of the FLDS' May-December romances. It's definitely a thing. One day maybe I will put some thought and research into figuring out what sick sociological forces are at work there.
Obviously, relationships with age differences can be healthy, but in the jw world, everything's already f^(&d up and the power differential makes it worse.
isnt nice to see the governing body being so humble, meek and not seeking their own importance?.

had the misfortune of stopping by the "regional" convention yesterday.

The drama was now in video form... ok fair enough. But it was a soap opera! A strait up daytime soap opera, complete with a trailer that said "previously on remember the wife of lot" and credits!
How could there be a second episode to that story? What would the story line be--she turns into a salt lick?
The songs before and after were more christain pip, complete with built in clap lines! Nobody actually clapped, but the track sounded as if it was included!

i've reached the end of my patience and now i finally refuse to waste any more time on part-time witnesses.
i've text all of my active jw family members and told them to delete my number from their phone and never contact me again.
Yeah I had people come to me when they started to wake up for a shoulder to cry on--people who had been HORRIBLE to me. And I stupidly helped them. I was way younger and way dumber back then.
They can all f*&^ off as far as I'm concerned.

One vow I made to myself when I left the borg is I would dedicate myself to truth, even if it was painful, because I just didn't want to believe any more lies.
I point to the evilbible.com site whenever people make the misguided statement that Jebus was all lovey dovey and the Old Testament is the only hateful part of the bible. The truth is the NT, and Jebus, are very hateful, and anyways Jebus endorsed the OT and old practices.
The bible is a violent, racist, misogynistic, homophobic anthology of hate crimes and rambling nonsense.
what for are such gifts made?

he explained he had heard a tape recording at work that explained that this song along with stairway to heaven and others had back masking on it and when played backwards would say stuff like "satan has his own congregation " or other stuff like that , now this was not a jw sanctioned audio talk just some other christian production .. none of dad's other peers felt the same and growing up it illustrated to me dad's propensity to be influenced and convinced about something seemingly innocuous to others.. fast forward to a year or so ago and i showed him a section from the eagles documentary where don henley talks about the meaning of hotel california and how much trouble christian evangelists gave the song due to their own interpretation etc , so completely refuted the claims my father had told me were fact as a kid ,from the horses mouth so to speak .
his answer was ,"well of course he'd say that he wants to save face ,he wouldn't admit the truth !".
It's not even logical at face value. How could our brain interpret backwards masking when it was not being played backwards?
It was always a friend of a friend of a friend who managed to play records and cassettes backwards. Nobody could ever reproduce it in front of me.
my lifelong mental illnesses, fuelled significantly by the borg, are very bad at the moment and result in me missing lots of midweek meetings, but i haven't missed a sunday in years except the occasional vacation.. the nature of my mental and emotional illnesses mean that i, as a physically in and mentally out pimo, take to heart very painfully admonishment from the platform to never miss meetings, preach all i can, and so on.. okay, i report 3 hours each month on average and no elder has ever said anything, but when they make comments on the platform, i feel such great guilt and shame, but also anger, as they do not understand my illnesses and when i do mention my situation to elders, they kind of minimise and joke about it.. some other sisters in my congregation started "officially" not attending midweek meetings a few year's ago because of their own health circumstances, but i know for a fact that some elders look down on them for this reason, not showing real understanding deep down even if they do on the surface.. i have reached the point where i want to hand in a da letter as a cry for help, or more like a clear indicator to them that when i say i'm not well enough to attend midweek, i really mean it and it's not just an excuse.
sure, i'm only 42, but i can still be too fragile to go out at night with a 30 minute drive both ways..
DA is playing by their rules.This has the same outcome but does not follow their rules. A small difference, you may say, but think of it as asserting your freedom from their silly rules.
what I want is for them to outwardly say that if I feel the best I can give means missing midweek meetings til I feel a bit better, that's "ok" as long as I listen on the phone system or something.
Trying to get your emotional needs met by people who are emotionally unavailable, immature and have a sick power balance with you is a bad idea.
