Living Vicariously Through the Sheep.
by donny inwhen i got baptized as a jehovah’s witness in the summer of 83, my honeymoon period lasted about two years before i began to wonder if the society and its adherents were all it claimed to be.
no of the things i encountered for the first few years was really faith shattering, they simply just made me pause and think.
after a short while, i would file those issues in the back of my brain files and move forward.. .

Is it morally wrong to put Watchtower behind?
by Darkknight757 inwith our latest and final run in with the elders, the wife and i had a very long talk about what's next in our life.
do we try to help others see the light as it were concerning watchtower or do we just let it go and move on with our life?
we have made it perfectly clear that we will never go back to watchtower and we are finally happy.

Rephrasing the question in the OP may help:
Is it morally wrong to stop doing morally wrong, pointless, self-defeating things in the course of obeying a made up religion that worships an imaginary bearded sky daddy in their whacked out interpretation of the ramblings of Bronze Age slave owners, which has been rewritten and translated too many times to know for sure what it ever originally said?
Hope that helps.

Wouldn't it be awesome if those properties were given to a nonprofit someday and became anti-cult museums? Imagine.

Jesus Christ was no Moses
by smiddy inmoses has a history of what 80+ years as a servant of jehovah ?
in one form or another .. moses wrote / penned the first five books of the bible and went through many trials and tribulations in serving his god jehovah in his long lifetime.interacting with god at times.. jesus was born and nothing is recorded of him until he is a young adolescent child ?
and very little about him.. then we are introduced to him when he is 30 years old and gets baptised ,and only then does he start his preaching .. does he start preaching to the world ?

The history of Christianity is bad, but think how worse it would be if Jesus advocated violence.
Believe in any religion you wish, but let's not claim Jesus was a nice guy.
“Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace on earth! No, rather a sword lf you love your father, mother, sister, brother, more than me" (Matthew 10:34)
Because of Jesus, families will battle each other.(Matthew 10:21)
Jesus strongly approves of the law and the prophets. He hasn’t the slightest objection to the cruelties of the Old Testament. (Matthew 5:17)
The beast and the false prophet are cast alive into a lake of fire. The rest of us, the unchosen, will be killed with the sword of Jesus. “An all the fowls were filled with their flesh.” Revelations (19:20-21)

I don't think it's true that blind and deaf people can't go to the kh or read a braille piece of litteratrash.
I can even imagine a story in a ragazine:
Sister U.C. is totally blind and deaf and lived miles from the hall. Yet she never misses a meeting. She hikes alone through the jungle twice a week to get to the meetings. Instead of doing something actually useful, like, um, giving her a fracking ride to the meeting, the brothers installed a rope along the 18-mile trail, which she holds onto to guide herself to the hall.
At one point in her journey, she has to wade through waist-deep, piranha-infested waters. (The brothers lovingly put her braille literature in Ziploc bags so it doesn't get wet on the way home.) Sometimes she is attacked by rabid apes, anacondas and demon-possessed Voodoo practitioners who thought she was coming to them requesting female circumcision. When the Voodoo tribe was finally able to understand what the frack she was doing there, they said, "What an impressive woman doing a totally dangerous and pointless thing with her life." The apes and anacondas made similar comments. Obviously, this was a fine witness to them and it softened their hearts.
She also placed braille literature with the apes and has return visits set up with them each Thursday, so she is now able to count her hiking time towards her field service quota.
She never complains about the need to wear 1950s meeting clothing, such as low-heeled pumps, pantyhose and full slips as she treks in 300% humidity and high temperatures. What a fine example she is!

Jehovah is unjust (outrageous article on slavery in last WT for public)
by Master_Bob inaccording to the last paragraph of the article entitled "escape from slavery—then and now" (wt#2, 2017).
jehovah god felt grieved by the harsh treatment of israelite slaves in egypt; he must feel the same way about similar injustice today.. .
if you call modern slavery "injustice", wasn't the slavery during moses time also "injustice"?

You would think that Jesus and the New Testament would have a different view of slavery, but slavery is still approved of in the New Testament, as the following passages show.
Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. (Ephesians 6:5 NLT)
Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed. If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts. Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them. (1 Timothy 6:1-2 NLT)
In the following parable, Jesus clearly approves of beating slaves even if they didn’t know they were doing anything wrong.
The servant will be severely punished, for though he knew his duty, he refused to do it. “But people who are not aware that they are doing wrong will be punished only lightly. Much is required from those to whom much is given, and much more is required from those to whom much more is given.” (Luke 12:47-48 NLT)

Would you trust your Doctor if he got things wrong??
by stuckinarut2 injust thinking..... assume we had a family doctor that we had seen all our lives, perhaps he had been the doctor for your extended family too.
he is lovely man, very kind and honest hearted.. but if he had prescribed treatment or medication that was wrong, and had bad effects on you, then changed the medication to something else, then randomly changed it again etc, how would you feel?.
if you did some research into him, and found disturbing facts and things in his history that made you question his qualifications, how would you feel?

As a side point:
The plus side is that she could be a hard and honest worker.
This has no correlation to being a jw. That is a myth they created about themselves.

Xmas / New Year - Time to Review Your Finances
by Simon init's that time of the year again, when most people spend too much buying too much crap for people .... it's also a good time to take advantage of the few days off to look at your finances and make sure you're not being "gouged" by the big companies that, well, like to extract as much money from people as possible.. for us, one of the biggest culprits was telecoms.. think about it: years ago you just had to buy a tv and probably paid to have a phone line.
nowadays you have cell phones for everyone in the family and a million and one tv channels (all showing crap or repeats of crap) and extra for movies and pay-per-view.
you can easily be paying hundreds of dollars per month.. it can all add up, quickly.

For $15, I bought a digital antenna that gets me about 20 channels. We watch Netflix and HBO GO for everything else. I still have way more than I can possibly watch, and am spending way less.
