  My Dad wants to study with me

  so my parents continue to pester me about getting baptized.

  the other day my dad told me that i was old enough to make a decision, and was wondering why i wasn't ready (assembly is in a few weeks) so i told him calmly that i have many doubts and if i were to get baptized it has to be 100 percent my idea.

  he was a little annoyed by this, and now wants to study the "is there a creator that cares about you" book (which is complete bs) with me.

  I don't know if it's a personality thing or what. A person can only have one personality, so I have no idea what it's like to have another. For me, I need to be honest. It is a need I feel in the core of myself.

  I was honest about my doubts. I had to do that prep thing with the elder and I was honest then that I wasn't sure this was thee truth.

  I was honest during the ass-embly when they had you do the vows. I said 'no' to a few of them, IIRC.

  They dunked me anyways, even though I was still a teen and frankly stating to my jw parent, elder and ass-embly attendant that I wasn't sure. But I still feel good that I was honest. In the end, it is one thing they can't ever take away from you, even if they control all other aspects of you.

  Fade Advice Please

  i got reinstated in the last month and had my record cards sent to a new congregation.

  i went to a few meetings until i heard the cards had been sent and now i am looking to do a complete fade, no longer go at all.

  the new congregation does not know me well and further away from where i live so i am hoping they will give up trying to make contact quickly.. any advice on do's and dont's and what to expect?.

  Seriously, that's a good idea.

  I know a woman who remained in good standing without attending meetings and FS for a super long time, and her dad remained MS in good standing too. Her relatives even said she was faking it to get out of jw stuff, but really this chick did not leave the house much. I guess if that or being an active dubbie are your only 2 choices...

  Throw out mail. Block emails, texts and social media.

  If they mail you literature subscriptions (do they still do that?), mark them "return to sender" unopened.

  I agree with pbrow: Basically live in fear and waste time in the only life that you are absolutely sure you have.

  I imagine you had your reasons for being reinstated, but now that you are, you are a lot less beholden to them.

  I just added cultooish, cultocracy, etc. from this thread--these will go in the next update, whenever I get around to it.

  Personally, I would focus more on shorter paragraphs and things that Disney would directly care about:

  1. Disney may think they are helping out a quirky super conservative xian group, but in fact it is a sinister high control group.
     
  2. This is a hate group that teaches everyone will become white in Paradise, women are inferior, and homosexuality is wrong. They even recently produced children's videos encouraging kids to tell their peers that their homosexual parents are sinners.
     
  3. They are against the Magic Kingdom and all kinds of magic in children's entertainment. They have recently produced a children's video explaining that Satan is happy when they play with wizard toys.
  4. They do not believe in protecting children, and are now the subject of ongoing legal action in several countries for forcing molestation victims to tell graphic rape details to pastors, denying rapes happened, blaming victims and threatening them not to go to authorities.
  5. Many Disney movies are prohibited for them to see because they contain magic or any other thing on their lengthy list of no-nos.
     

  Insert links backing up all of these things, and I think you've got a strong case they will pay attention to.

  i believe in humor as an effective way to bring attention to an important topic.

  humor has made many people aware of the true nuttiness of the jw cult in the past (sign language masturbation video—went viral).. amazon allows humorous reviews and even showcases them.

  Sisters running microphones?

  so our sunday meeting was on the 25th (christmas) and my active jw wife and i were out of town enjoying some family time with relatives.. apparently there were many others in our congregation that missed as well.

  so few were there in fact that sisters ran the mics.

  (actually it was a sister running one of the two mics) a friend of my wife commented to her about how the brothers just aren't stepping up and it "makes her want to cry.
