Another big step on my journey
by LogansRun in1987 attended the memorial for the first time, and the last time?
2016. it was a big step for me to not go last night i'm convincing myself that i really do have the strength to never return to this living nightmare of a religion.
you may recall i'm a fader my last meeting was 9 months ago and i have deflected a number of attempted visits and dozens of phone calls they now just hang up on my answering machine, as a matter of fact they did it again this morning.

Is it possible to decline preaching in the carts?
by Skepsis inhi folks,.
i have a difficult dilemma.
since i'm not pioneering any more, i'm reducing my hours wasted at that artifact known as cart or trolley.

Every moment spent participating in the religion sets you up as an example for others to join.
Come down with a series of illnesses. Just blurt out that you have it and then walk away.
- explosive diarrhea
- pink eye
- Tourette's
- severe phobia of carts
- menstrual disorders if you're a chick
I dare you to start a jw urban myth that the demons are possessing witnesses who work the carts.

It's about progress, not perfection...
by scratchme1010 ini guess at this point in time and space i'm ok if there's an indication of things going in the right direction.. my jw father, who joined the jws in 1973 when i was 8, has always had all the characteristics of the stereotypical brainwashed born again weirdo.
as a jw he always felt the need to show that he was more devoted than the rest of the crop.
to him, life became very easy from that point on: "the bible", interpreted by the millions of wt publications, along with the information in the meetings and getting involved in all jw activities, were the answer to everything and anything in his life".

Wow. It sounds like this gives you a lot of peace, so obviously it is worthwhile for you to do then.
We have handled abuse very differently.
I don't have enough respect or regard for my jw mother to do any of these things, and even if I did, she isn't capable of benefiting from it in a healthy way. It would just fuel her toxicity and cultiness to be forgiven and treated as though her words have merit. She would twist it into vindication that she has the truth and her abuse was justified.I am not guessing--this is based upon experience.
I am convinced the only right thing to do with a narcissist is cut them out of your life. But it sounds as though your situation was different.
come to terms with them...I said everything I wanted to say, asked everything I wanted to ask, and listened to everything they wanted to tell me. I also let them know that I am there if they need any help or support.

Apologists saying that the JWs shouldn't be banned, what the hell!??
by Crazyguy init's been brought to my attention that there are xjw that say they support the witnesses and don't think russia should ban them.
i would just like to remind all of you that jws are guilty of murder, causing higher rates of suicide, covering up child molestation, and keeping members in prisoned because if they leave they loose family, financial support, possible employment etc.. sure their not strapping bombs to their chests but they easily get members to kill themselves with their blood policies.
they are an extremist group!

Cult behaviors should be criminalized--that much we agree on.
I am having a hard time finding evidence banning a religion itself has a particular effect one way or the other. If anyone has any evidence, please share it.
For me, it is important not to form an opinion based on a guess or emotions. I put that behavior behind me when I left the cult. -

Their so-called love is based on merit only. If you do what they like, they’ll put up with you. If not, they’ll drop you without hesitation
It's beyond that. You can have merit based on faithful acts, but if things happen to you that are outside your control* that make you unpopular, your social standing can be withheld or removed in a second.
*Examples:
-Being born female lowers your potential social standing and how much basic human respect you receive from fellow dubs
-I was born with a bleeding disorder and thus referred to as a demonic vampire
-I've seen people have a rumor/lie told about them and they are socially blocked without notice--they don't want the stank of unpopularity to rub off on them

I'm 90% PIMO but events in Russia made me stop and think maybe Jehovah is real and helping
by Isambard Crater ini'm at the stage where i'd love a big scandal to come along showing clearly that the j.w's are not the true religion, but sometimes i get touched inside by various thoughts or events, the russian court trial being one of them.. i mean, j.w's are understandably fixated with attending the memorial, so why didn't the court say it will resume on monday or tuesday, instead setting wednesday 12 april as the date?
part of me believes the comments from pro-j.w's that jehovah moved events so they could attend the memorial.. it seems the j.w's will not be banned, which makes my mind and heart wrestle between thinking jah's behind it, or maybe the ministry of justice is just woefully prepared compared to the superb australian royal commission team who did their homework.
it surprises me the russians seemingly haven't done any homework..

Oh honey. They have been exposed many, many times over the last >100 years.
If a big scandal was big enough to expose them, none of us would have ever become dubs, because those scandals started way before we were born.
The problem is not the lack of a big scandal to expose them, but rather the ingrained defensive reaction dubs have to all disconfirming information-->denial and rationalization.

Pretoria resident says - before high court in South Africa - he is the anointed one !
by ZAPPA-ESQUE inpretoria [ south africa] - an unusual urgent application served before the gauteng high court this week,in which a lyttelton manor resident, who said he is was known as the “anointed one” among jehovah’s witnesses, asked the court to officially swear him in as the worldwide leader of the organisation.. ernest gericke, in papers before the court, told judge bill prinsloo that the “first business of the christ is the legal establishment of the kingdom of god on earth, known as the jehovah’s kingdom.” .
gericke said this involved the the conducting of a covenant for a kingdom, which is to take place on april 11. .
“in order to effect the legal requirements for the kingdom this honourable court is requested to hear the public oath of the office of the king.

Sadly, this is not much crazier than the dubs' actual beliefs.
They already believe a bearded sky daddy raped a minor girl in a totally holy way, impregnated her with his bearded sky son, who was transformed into an Earth baby for 33 years.
The Earth/sky superbaby went around doing magic tricks and giving weird speeches, but despite all of his superpowers, he's unable to show himself even a tad bit today. He is hiding in the clouds.
Then he deliberately allowed the humans to torture and kill him slowly, but not before hosting a dinner where he told his guests to pretend wine was his blood and bread was his body. Instead of being grossed out, the guests enjoyed pretending they were cannibals so much that it became an annual tradition to have the pre-funeral cannibal meal.
And the people who celebrate his resurrection are totally evil.
Not much crazier than a man wanting the court to appoint him to lead this BS.

Marc & Cora on YouTube causing unnecessary divisions
by jambon1 inwhat is it with this pair?
why do they have to constantly have a bitch about guys like john cedars?
a very recent video of them shows them calling him a 'village idiot' and making other disparaging claims.
-
rebel8
I can't speak for the youtubers but I know some of us are skeptical of Cedars because of his involvement in AAWA and their claim that he still supports their organization.
I will never forgive AAWA for what they did to many of us.

Special Pleading + Blind Obedience = Compromised morality and even extremism.
by doubtfull1799 ini had an interesting discussion over the weekend with a coupe of witness on the carts.
i asked them if they put much thought into the rights/wrongs/consequences of writing letters to russia before doing so or did they just do it without thought because the gb asked them to.
one said yes, they would always do what the gb said to do because they completely trusted that the gb would never ask then to do something that is wrong.
-

True, and they have been doing it for years. I remember writing letters to the government in Malawi. I guess we were not neutral then either.
Of course...when have they ever been neutral in this way? Not in the 1930s, that's for sure.

As funny as it is, I think there is something deeply wrong with a person who thinks flashing his naked body is the best first line response to an annoying person knocking on his door. And people doing that to children is, at best, super disturbing.
The householder has many other options, including not even answering the door, or opening it and yelling at them. Of all the options...why does he reckon NO PANTS is the best one?
