Important Question regarding transfer of Quotes site to WTS

someone with more 'tech' knowledge needs to answer this for us.. the wt has current control of the quotes.watchtower.ca website.

if they put something on it to forward requests to view to the 'real' wt site can they look at and trace back ip addresses to us.. if it is yes then the next thing we will see is the lawyers sending lawsuits to isp's thru-out the country wanting the names of those individuals.. or am i really paranoid on this one.. let them come after me i really don't care at this point in time.

but i would rather have this happen on my timeline and not theirs.

I know I'm just paranoid about this stuff but if you look at the bottom left corner of your posts you will see an IP address. This particular address is coded so that I cannot find you. But I think that Simon could look for the REAL IP address if he wanted to and that is what I was talking about. Could the WTS read the IP addresses of hits to their site and if that hit was transfered from the old quotes site.

If there are knowledgeable people outthere writing worms and viruses to mess up my computer certainly there is a program or programmer that can find someone through an IP address trace. Not everyone is ready to battle the dragon.

On a side note is the latest quotes.cx site just experiencing an overload? the site times out for me.

in compliance with the terms of a settlement agreement, my information and research web site, http://quotes.watchtower.ca, is now "dark".

the domain "watchtower.ca" has been transferred to wts (i assume they will have it pointing to borg.org watchtower.org asap).

my copies of the site have been destroyed, the files deleted, and my wt library cd has been destroyed, in accordance with the settlement agreement which will afford a "discontinuance" of their suit against me.

OK Lawyers out there. The settlement is a legal document and signed thus by a representative of the WTBTS.

Since the document does use the word "profit" and the society says they are a 'non-profit' organization, can this be used against them?

The settlement stated something to the effect that the WTS can go to Peters heirs (his children) if he so much as sneezes wrong. This case ended without law. Had the case gone to court (and the WTS knows this) they would have lost. The law was not on their side. Money was on their side. This was SETTLED BEFORE going to court.

The WT settled a law suit against them a few years back regarding an automobile accident. The WT settled by paying mega-bucks. This was to ensure that the legal avenue against them would not be used as a precedent in future lawsuits.

WT vs Mosier was settled so that future websites won't pop up using WT material in a fair use manner.

The next time the Witnesses come knocking, asking for a modest donation. Think about it. Is the money really being used to further the spreading of God’s Word? Or is it just lining some ones pockets.
