What Do You Think Of Israel & Obama's Relationship?
by minimus init seems that obama and netanyahu cannot work together and israel is being isolated.
the two men had a recent falling out and once again israel looks like they will have to fend for themselves in the arab world.
what i see is the usa distancing themselves from israel and becoming more pro-arab..

Here are overlooked facts in the current & past Middle East situation. It makes sense and it's not slanted. Jew and non-Jew -- it doesn't matter.
1. Nationhood and Jerusalem: Israel became a nation in 1312 BC, two thousand (2000) years before the rise of Islam.
2... Arab refugees in Israel began identifying themselves as part of a Palestinian people in 1967, two decades after the establishment of the modern State of Israel.
3. Since the Jewish conquest in 1272 BC, the Jews have had dominion over the land for one thousand (1000) years with a continuous presence in the land for the past 3,300 years.
4. The only Arab dominion since the conquest in 635 lasted no more than 22 years.
5. For over 3,300 years, Jerusalem has been the Jewish capital. Jerusalem has never been the capital of any Arab or Muslim entity. Even when the Jordanians occupied Jerusalem, they never sought to make it their capital, and Arab leaders
did not come to visit.
6. Jerusalem is mentioned over 700 times in Tanach, the Jewish Holy scriptures. Jerusalem is not mentioned even once in the Koran.
7. King David founded the city of Jerusalem. Mohammed never came to Jerusalem.
8. Jews pray facing Jerusalem. Muslims pray with their backs toward Jerusalem.
9. Arab and Jewish Refugees: in 1948 the Arab refugees were encouraged to leave Israel by Arab leaders promising to purge the land of Jews. Sixty-eight percent left (many in fear of retaliation by their own brethren, the Arabs), without ever seeing an Israeli soldier. The ones who stayed were afforded the same peace, civility, and citizenship rights as everyone else.
10. The Jewish refugees were forced to flee from Arab lands due to Arab brutality, persecution and pogroms.
11. The number of Arab refugees who left Israel in 1948 is estimated to be around 630,000. The number of Jewish refugees from Arab lands is estimated to be the same.
12. Arab refugees were INTENTIONALLY not absorbed or integrated into the Arab lands to which they fled, despite the vast Arab territory. Out of the 100,000,000 refugees since World War II, theirs is the only refugee group in the world that has never been absorbed or integrated into their own people's lands. Jewish refugees were completely absorbed into Israel, a country no larger than the state of New Jersey.13. The Arab-Israeli Conflict: the Arabs are represented by eight separate nations, not including the Palestinians. There is only one Jewish nation. The Arab nations initiated all five wars and lost. Israel defended itself each time and won.
14. The PLO's Charter still calls for the destruction of the State of Israel. Israel has given the Palestinians most of the West Bank land, autonomy under the Palestinian Authority, and has supplied them.
15. Under Jordanian rule, Jewish holy sites were desecrated and the Jews were denied access to places of worship. Under Israeli rule, all Muslim and Christian sites have been preserved and made accessible to people of all faiths.
16. The UN Record on Israel and the Arabs: of the 175 Security Council resolutions passed before 1990, 97 were directed against Israel.
17. Of the 690 General Assembly resolutions voted on before 1990, 429 were directed against Israel.
18. The UN was silent while 58 Jerusalem synagogues were destroyed by the Jordanians.19. The UN was silent while the Jordanians systematically desecrated the ancient Jewish cemetery on the Mount of Olives.
20. The UN was silent while the Jordanians enforced an apartheid-like a policy of preventing Jews from visiting the Temple Mount and the Western Wall. -

As a former elder of almost 20 years and later being put on trial for disagreeing with the WT, I strongly believe this was real and not staged. My meeting with the committee (which included a brother from Bethel who was sent in to replace one of the local elders) went almost like that. I had earlier written a letter to the Society asking about the Mexico - Malawi double standard. The reply I got at one of my hearings was "Why should the Society have to answer your question. You're not the faithful and discreet slave". So that is typically the approach they take because they know they cannot answer your questions. For any doubters about the genuiness of this recording I suggest you listen to the recording of a committee hearing with Rick and Laverne Townsend. You can download it at freeminds.org.

No. I am not proud. It is quite disheartening. In response to your (BTS)easking where I have been, I actually check JW.net about every two or three days. I normally don't contribute too much because once I get involved in a discussion, I feel a need to follow it through to the end and I hav'nt had the time to do that. I just took an early retirement from State of CT employment. Governor offered early retirement package to get rid of some state employees to help balance the budget. So I decided to take it. Working my own ebay business now and it keeps busy. But at least I have the freedom now to get a little involved in some of the discussions I may be more passionate about. Most everything that can be said regarding WT issues has been said or is being said. So I don't particularly feel a need to involve myself in those discussions.
One thing regarding JWs I am interested in pursuing a little more has to do with Kingdom Hall ownership and the Society's involvment in the quick build projects. Some time ago someone posted a note saying that the building contractors and tradesmen involved with the regional building committees actually get paid along with their crews for their work on quick build projects. It appears that the Society in effect contracts out these projects to the regional crews and they make money on the projects since most of the labor from the individual JWS is free. The average JW thinks that everyone working on the project is volunteering his time and skills but some are getting paid. And ultimately, the Society ends up amassing more and more property, since they finance the project with JW donated money and then are paid back by the congregation having the KH built. I think the average JW would be surprised and disturbed to know that he is being used in this way. I don't know if I'm off base with this, but I'd like to find out more.

A study was done by two University of Iowa researchers regarding life expectancy rankings. They factored in accidental fatalities including murders. When factored in, the US comes out on top in life expectancy. Check it out.

Hi All. Burn the Ships just about said it all. He/she substantiates my point. I would add: What about the believability of the reports? Do you honestly believe that Cuba's reporting on infant mortality is to be believed? Would a woman prefer to give birth to a child in Cuba or the US? Do you really believe that Costa Rica has a better health care system than the US? I maintain that overall the US health care system is probably the best in the world, certainly among the top five. This is not to say that it does not need improvement. We can do much better. But the greatest improvement in our health statistics would come from a change in people's life styles.
As for access to health care, we need to make it much more accessible. People who have health insurance should not be dropped because they lose or change jobs, or develop health problems. Low income families and individuals should be subsidised or have access to government run clinics. (Many states already have these in place). As with auto insurance, there should be high risk pools for those with pre-existing conditions. But the fact is, there are people who can afford to pay for health insurance, but choose not to purchase it. They may have never had any serious medical issue. The government could actually give people, lets say $500 a month toward health insurance and many of them would not purchase it. They would use the money for something else. But let these people get sick and they would expect medical care.
