  to say that jesus said his followers should all be on equal footing, it's incredible how much the r&f witness is not on equal footing.

  607? 587? What does it matter

  personally i believe that 607 is not the right date, but here is another point of view.. does 607 or 587 or 609 or 586 or 1914 really matter?

  yes but only after you have a pivotal date.

  In short, the Bible gives only a relative chronology and one needs to convert this into an absolute chronology otherwise such chronology hangs in the air without a peg as it were. The Monarchy in Israel ceased about 500 years before our Common Era so a date based on an event is required to connect the data of the kings with our modern period or calender..

  You call me naive then you gloss over my question by restating my point as if it is your own.

  In short, the Bible gives only a relative chronology and one needs to convert this into an absolute chronology otherwise such chronology hangs in the air without a peg as it were.

  This is my question to you and every other witness that believes in 607 and 1914. It would apply equally to anyone trying to make a prophecy out of the 587 or 86 dates.

  Maybe my first post was too wordy and my questions were lost on you. Here they are again:

  What good is a prophecy that lives or dies; stands or falls based on archeology?

  and

  What good is the bible if you have to be a historian, archeologist, Hebrew and Greek scholar just to understand it?

  and

  Are we really to believe that this prophecy could only be understood after the relevant archeological discoveries were made?

  Thanks scholar, or anyone else who believes in a time prophecy based on a date that cannot be assertained pruly from the bible.

  In the future scholar I will try to be self deprecating enough so that you wont feel the need to call me names. :) Thanks again.

  The Bible spells out the missuse of blood. That is plain. but just where it becomes OK is a grey area. With the Israelites they had to bleed the animal, but small amounts of blood remained in the carcass. They could eat that, as long as they did the bleeding process. At what point did they decide that the animal had been bleed sufucuantly? They were not told that, just poor out the blood. That was the law - to pur out the blood. Every one doing so would have to decide at what point the blood was poured out.... did they stop as soon as the blood stopped running, or did they wait until no more dripps fell on the ground... did they then flush out the vanes with water... how far should they have gone? So they had to decide when to stop, and fro each individual that would be a different time.

  Thanks Ben as that is a very good point. The law is simple, dont eat blood. Human perception makes for grey areas. Its ok when the individual conscience is involved in making the descision. The trouble lies in someone else becoming the conscience. I dont remember any bleeding process prescribed in the bible, do you? Not in the Pharisaical sense.

  Example: How much is sufficiant bleeding for a carcass? Pharisaical law would convolute the simple godly principle. You end up with a whole proceedure for bleeding an animal properly, but miss the point, respect for blood. The individuals conscience also becomes lost because they must abide by the conscience of the law maker.

  Example: The blood issue. The godly principle is simple, abstain from blood. The Pharisaical law of the society is: Abstain from this, this, and that, but this, this, this, and that are conscience matters. They lose the godly principle in the law. Abstain from blood, becomes convoluted by their own ideas. The grey areas that they percive become the issues by which we are supose to make a consciencious descision. Instead of simply, abstain from blood. Its as I stated in another thread to you, the Society becomes the conscience. You must make a descision based on their conscience, not yours.

  The org is going down----I can feel it!

  my brother called me today.he is 20 ,3 years younger than me,and out of the religion.he still has fear though that it could be true,but thats another story.. he told me he heard my mother and father talking upstairs.my mother said about the org "ive put 26 years into it,i think i'm done with it,i might just go sunday from now on".this is huge ,because she was a devoted nutjob witness.she made my life horrible for the 1st 17 years of my life.i had been trying to suddly tell her the truth about the troof,but i didn't expect this.i'm happy and yet i want to know where she stands with the borganization.. this along with what seems to be an outpouring of similar stories,i have a gut feeling the jehovahs witness mind control cult is on the brink of implosion.everyone is so burdened by it.the jig is up,gb,good riddance when you fold.the rank and file have had enough.my 2 younger sisters are on the edge of mental freedom.i hope they can fully get free of it.. this is a milestone in my families long and strange trip in mental enslavement!!!!!!!!!!!!
