  just found this site today and as well as being amused, concerned and shocked at some of the stuff i?ve found here, reading the bios and posts of other ex jw?s has in a way made me feel a little bit less alone in the world.

  don?t get me wrong, i?m not an emotionally scared loner, it?s like i?ve finally found someone else to stand outside morning assemble with.

  I took a peek because i was told not to look. that made me curious . and now i love it. have to keep kicking my kids off the computor though (3 of us sharing it) so end up missing lots of information, or coming in late

  i was raised roman catholic but stopped going about 25 years ago.

  i was talking with someone i work with who is a jw and suggested i might look into it.

  so here i am.............

  I think he got scared off. Could be due to obsessive attention to a particular side issue?

  Yeah he thinks we are all raving sex maniacs!!

  It could be he doesnt know how to post a reply. i spent a while trying to figure this out and my first attempts ended up with replys going god knows where!! but im learning slowly with a little help from my friends

  Is Wearing a Cross wrong?

  ever since leaving the org 10+ years ago, i have often wondered about wearing a cross and if it is wrong to do.

  i think the jw's see it as an idol, and i do know that the baptists actually pray to the cross because after i left the org, i became baptist for 2 years and they did pray to the big cross on the wall.

  i'm not sure i believe that praying to the cross is such a good thing to do, but is wearing one as a symbol of my belief wrong?

  I dont think the baptists would have 'prayed to the cross' although it may have seemed that way. i think they have it there as a reminder of what jesus did, and may look at it to remind themselves, but they would know it was wrong to pray specifically to the cross.

  Ive very recently been taught that its wrong to wear a cross by jws, but hey, thats what they think. although i did think it was quite a funny reply when i asked what was wrong with wearing a cross, and was asked, if someone you loved was stabbed to death, would you wear a dagger round your neck? Touche !

  straight away told im not ready for baptism, not with the amount and depth of questions, that ive been warned about these sites and that apostates will do anything to knock jws.

  proving its the true religion bec the bible says it will happen (shows me scriptures).

  also told it doesnt happen with any other religious group - usually people just quietly leave and make no fuss - further proof that ths is the true religion.. i asked about all the dates where predictions were made, eg 1914, 1975. was told there were some articles loosly talking the 'possibility' of something happening, but the wt never said it definitely would - how could it, these are just ordinary men, not profits.

  Rebellious Spirit - so glad to hear that. Hope it stays that way for you. When i first started studying i told the jw studying with me i wouldnt be easy because i had loads of questions. she said that was fine, and it was until yesterday. i think she felt crushed by the amount of questions, considering the week before id been talking about baptism. not to worry. Im ok. and maybe, like some of you say, shes gone away and its made her question. would like to think i raised some issue thats made her think anyway. it matters not. live and let live as they say.

  Swan - shes aged 60, was a jw in 1975, says she remembers no big fuss. she may be geniune, i saw someone on this forum (cant remember who, say the same thing)

  [[applause]] I don?t even have time to say all the nice things I?m thinking! Being dumped by the JW whacks is an honor. It shows you have integrity, strength, courage, intelligence, a sense of self worth?are you feeling better yet?

  You highlight the part you want to copy. Then give the mouse a right click and select 'copy'. Now, hit 'reply' to a post, in order to see your reply box. Now put your cursor inside the replky box, in the spot where you want the copied words to appear. Go all the way up top to 'edit'. From there, select 'paste', and the copied words will appear. If you want the words in a little yellow box, then highlight them again and click on the little white cloud next to the happy face. Done!
