i wonder if anyone has ever compiled a list of references to jehovah's witnesses in novels and other works of fiction.
i have been reading about research into mormonism focussing on how mormons have been represented over the years in works of fiction.
a similar project with jehovah's witnesses would be really fascinating.
the previous 607 thread was locked down where the 587 defenders could not overcome the clear reasoning of the bible about the 40 year desolation of egypt.

Steve: Can I ask, when do you think the events of Ch 1:18,19 took place? Not sure which scripture you mean.
I mean the events of Daniel 1:18,19. steve

They speak for all the wise men of the king's because they are the head wise men. They are telling him that they have no one who can tell and interpret the dream. Since they are telling the king that neither they nor anybody can tell the dream he orders them all to be killed. Do you think that Neb would individually go to the Jewish boy he met many years earlier and ask him if he could tell the dream? Of course not. It is the job of these chief priests to tell the dream or find one of their wise men who can tell the dream. Neb is not about to go inquiring of each wise man in Babylon to see if any can tell the dream. In other words, Neb is telling his chief wise men, 'Since you haven't found anyone of my wise men to tell my dream you are all to be killed.'
I understand what your saying, but I'm not sure of something else because of your conclusion presented. Why, didn't Daniel (ch 2:15) know the reason for his fate if he was already in the kings service as one of the wise men?

Aside from the fact that the 3 year training would have ended after Neb's actual 2nd year of rule and not during that would be impossible. ; Also after the 3 year training period Daniel and his friends entered into the king's service for the first time. In Daniel 2, Daniel is already in the King's service and that is why he is also to be killed. ; So the answer is clearly NO, it could not be the same event.
If that's the case then there's someting else I don't understand. Chapter 1 says:
17 To these four young men God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning. And Daniel could understand visions and dreams of all kinds. 18 At the end of the time set by the king to bring them in, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar. 19 The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king's service.
If the king knew of Daniel to have no equal, why would he execute him on the merit of the lesser wise men?

I have a question for the board:
Daniel 1:18,19 says:
18 At the end of the time set by the king to bring them in, the chief official presented them to Nebuchadnezzar. 19 The king talked with them, and he found none equal to Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah; so they entered the king's service.
And Daniel 2:46-49 says:
46 Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell prostrate before Daniel and paid him honor and ordered that an offering and incense be presented to him. 47 The king said to Daniel, "Surely your God is the God of gods and the Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries, for you were able to reveal this mystery."
48 Then the king placed Daniel in a high position and lavished many gifts on him. He made him ruler over the entire province of Babylon and placed him in charge of all its wise men. 49 Moreover, at Daniel's request the king appointed Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego administrators over the province of Babylon, while Daniel himself remained at the royal court.
Given that the events in chapter 2 occured in king Nebs 2nd year (3rd year using assention system), could these be the same event? It sounds to me like it's the same event.

thirdwitness,
Just for clarification of your post, are you saying:
Neb assigns Daniel to be taught for three years, after those three years Neb identifies Daniel to be the greatest among all the wise men, in the Kings second year Daniel interprets the dream. Therefore the second year referred to in Daniel 2:1 has to be much later for the account to be correct?
