The arrogant skeptic thread....
by heathen inthis is the place for all you arrogant skeptics to post all the things you don't believe in so you can stop harassing posters on other threads involving the paranormal, after all you are smarter than the rest of us .....................

Elsewhere, I understand what you saying, but, for most here, being programmed as a JW means the very reality of ghosts and the paranormal. Maybe, it's our responsibility, as ex-JWs to help them understand that when you can't explain something doesn't mean it is a paranormal experience. However, I completely agree with you with regards to those who push Harry Potter as real.
The other thread, to which this thread is referring, shows odd anomalies only viewed through a camera's CCD with the infrared cut-out filter removed. As a professional shooter I've seen this many times, and if it isn't dust it's lens refraction or light reflection. I know this because as a gaffer, I hear the cinematographer shouting for either a flag or a wrap for his camera. But, the person who shot this is a little concerned that their could be "spirits" habituating her house. She doesn't.
So, considering that, I think people should stop with the supernatural nonsense as the first and only possible explanation.

I believe the movement of metallic objects is the work of demonz and not magnetism! The compass needle always points to the devil.

The site is nicely put together. I would like verification of some of the photographs though. Especially the photo suggesting Russell with a naked girl in bed.

Article - Does the Witness stance on WAR prove they are the true religion?
by jwfacts inmany jws believe they are the only religion that doesn't go to war and hence the only true religion.
i am working on an article at http://jwfacts.com/index_files/war.htm to show that this is not valid reasoning, and would love any comments.
despite being neutral in war, jehovah's witnesses are not pacifists.

Hi KCM, and welcome to JWD.
I was razed in the (ahem) "truth" too. It was a bit of a bumpy ride for me in my exit. Mostly the psychological after effects. But, you can recover. Talking and support are definitely the way to go. And, you've made a good decision coming here.
I look forward to reading more of your posts in the future.

HEARSAY....RUMOR...FABLE...LIES....or..INERRANT WORD OF GOD???
by Terry ini was almost 50 years old before i really knew anything factual about how the bible came into existence!.
it is astounding.. i was reading it since i was a child never with a doubt in my head.
i was told by people i trusted (who had no reason to lie) that i could be confident the bible was the word of god almighty.. and, it was as simple as that!.

Terry, I find the inerrant view intellectually lazy, contemptuous, immoral, and dishonest. When reading your post it did remind me of 'Misquoting Jesus'. Even if the author had a gripe with his previous religion, the book is very easy to read, and a recommended start to the discovery of 'how' we get the bible we use today.
You stated in your post: " Since it is easily demonstrated that more errors exist in the New Testment alone than there are words IN the New Testament..." So, I'll have to ask you to demonstrate, if you wouldn't mind.

Lesson 16
Your Decision to Serve God
1. To become a friend of God, you must obtain a good knowledge of Bible truth (1 Timothy 2:3, 4), put faith in the things you have learned (Hebrews 11:6), repent of your sins (Acts 17:30, 31), and turn around in your course of life. (Acts 3:19) Then your love for God should move you to dedicate yourself to him. This means that in a personal, private prayer you tell him that you are giving yourself to him to do his will.—Matthew 16:24; 22:37.
2. After you have made your dedication to God, you should be baptized. (Matthew 28:19, 20) Baptism lets everyone know that you have dedicated yourself to Jehovah. So baptism is only for those who are old enough to make a decision to serve God. When a person is baptized, his whole body should be put under the water momentarily.*—Mark 1:9, 10; Acts 8:36.
3. After you have made a dedication, Jehovah will expect you to live up to your promise. (Psalm 50:14; Ecclesiastes 5:4, 5) The Devil will try to stop you from serving Jehovah. (1 Peter 5:8) But draw close to God in prayer. (Philippians 4:6, 7) Study his Word each day. (Psalm 1:1-3) Stick close to the congregation. (Hebrews 13:17) By doing all of this, you will gain the strength to stay faithful to God. For all eternity you thus can do the things that God requires of you!
