Jeez, if I think back twenty five years, then your diary shopping list is a carbon copy of mine. It took me near on another ten years before I fully broke away. And this crap stayed with me another ten years after that. As is a common thought here, 'if only I knew then, as a kid, what I know now'.

by Crumpet ini was just reading some of my old diaries and wanted to share it particularly for anyone who feels despair, who is locked into the society through family and especially for any young lurkers still in.
i wrote this shortly after i turned 15. comments in brackets are my own to clarify.. tuesday 1st may 1990. you know i frequently wish that there was some arrangement whereby you could go to sleep and never have to go through the trouble of waking up.
i dont believe one can ever actually be truly happy.

Assembly Deficits

what i would like to see is how many have noticed a deficit on the last afternoon accounts report, and if known, about how big was it.
also, did they have a surplus at an earlier report, particularly if the surplus was big and the amount of the deficit was impossibly large.

I can remember being excited and terrified when the 'year of peace' was declared.
I think the reasoning of a 'ban on religion' can only come from an insular group. I was recently debating with a bunch of JW's over the [sic] 'better', child abuse policy from the Watchtower, and other religious organizations. The only organizations JW's would see as having a strong (note, not stronger) policy are those which are of high control groups.
This goes to the core of JW mentality. The average American Christian believes that Christ is the savior, not an organization. Their religion is of a personal nature. A 'ban on all religion' is akin to a ban on favorite colors.
I can remember when in Europe we would get excited over news of the societies literature making it through iron curtain, into the old eastern bloc countries. There was a plethora of JW urban myths regarding this. But, why would that matter if the citizens had a bible? That's all you need right?
