im in the window and siding business and one of my good friends told me that his boss needed some windows installed in his home.i met with him and talked about the job and what it would cost him, then i found that he was a pretty interesting guy.he goes on snake hunts in arizona texas etc.he has i believe 20 or so poisonous snakes at his home and is very knowledgable in the ways of the snake so to speak.well i gave him a good deal and he agreed to have the work done.. today we showed up to do the work and i happend to notice his calendar which pointed out the memorial.my friend told me that his father used to be a jw so i thought i would ask.it turns out his dad used to be an ms and either quit attending or was dfd.he never was very involved other than going to the meetings with his dad and i guess just being a kid.. about a year ago a dub came to the door and invited him to the memorial.hes been studying ever since.he says hes been serious lately and the message they send is sounding good to not only him but his wife too, shes now studying.. i couldnt help but mention a few points to him that i have discovered about the truth about the truth.actualy i probobly talked too much.it has only been 4 months since i was floored with the ray franz coc book.to make a long story short he is also wanting to question, has doubts but needs to be shown.
brought him here and he is probobly reading this now, however we were not able to get him logged on to post.. the un thing, blood, false predictions and child abuse are some topics hes interested in .if anyone can help especially simon to give him the ability to post that would be great.i didnt write his addy down when i was there but i will pm with that.please if you all will welcome ray even though he cant post yet.hes good people and doesnt deserve to be mislead by the jws.. please post your responses welcome zorro even though he is not logged yet.he will see them and feel encouraged.. .
please also post your proof of the different major falsehoods the society preaches.you all are the best.please help this man and his wife need and want help.

I knew an old fruit that was a bit of a snake in the grass. Don't know if that helps?
Oh, and Hey there Zorro. Welcome to the board.

ok, be realistic, would you want to live forever?
what is your view of living forever?

I still say were gonna become perfect slobs.
This is the person who eagerly does everything possible to enjoy eternity:
Lets look at the ?reality?. Start the date at year 1, just after the big ?A?
We spend year 1000 PA, getting through the final Satan test.
Year 34004 PA, the earth is full so no more children, the urge to procreate has gone away any way
Year 121012 PA, Done all the fishing/sowing/visited EVERY place on the planet
Year 24500058 PA Not only visited every place on the planet, but had deep conversation with EVERY person on the planet.
Year 3000000 PA. What now. Twiddles thumbs. Twiddles some more thumbs. Ask spouse for suggestions but she can only come up with thing already done at least 40000 times already. So ?? Phew tough ?? Twiddles thumbs ?.. NOW What!!!
Bugger it I?m gonna sit here.
Alternatively:
This is year 20000 PA
Why bother the fishing/sowing/visited EVERY place on the planet, having deep conversations with EVERY person on the planet today when I CAN do it tomorrow. There?s no rush. Its not as if I?m gonna die.
It just seams to me that we're not designed to live forever. Call it what you like and give it an explaination, Evolution or Sin, we're still gonna die.
steve
P.s. Sorry if that sounds like a bit of a downer, look on the bright side, you could be living for millions of years reporting to the same bunch of cronnies and fools you do now.
P.p.s PA = post Armageddon

well, it appears that i?m in a bit of a quandary and would appreciate any advice anyone could give.
two days ago i announced that spring had finally arrived to some fellow new yorkers.
they tried to convince me that on the north east coast, spring is never certain until summer is here, nonetheless i was adamant that, ?spring had indeed arrived?, and took on full responsibility for such a (now obvious) brash statement.. .

A normal, kind person would not do this too forcefully
Ah, but you havent met my 'friends' - have you ever seen those movies or star trek episodes where the primative people blame the new comer for the village curse. You know the boiling oil vat on the head type of people.

As I'm currently in the process of killing off my old demons, I'm in counseling over my whole JW experience, and this is a question my counselor asked me. I thought of the usual JDub response, then she asked me ?if anything would get done?. I'd never thought of it this way.
Why do we 'get things done'?
Maybe this is part of the fundamental human, recognition of our finite time. Maybe this is part of the rational behind eternalistic beliefs systems, albeit Christian, Buddhist, or whatever, an explanation of what can?t be explained. Why are we here now, and what happens after this?
I don't mean just thinking 'I wonder what happens when we die'? but, instinctively I think we recognize a finite time of being ?us?. Bit scary, well to me anyway because I?m still coming to terms with the ?going to die? scenario, that some of us exJDubs go through.
ANYWAY, stop the ramble and back to the question at hand. What?s My View on Living Forever? I think we would become the perfect slobs, because we could, perfectly.

The following day (yesterday) we had a drop in temperature of 25 degrees with accompanying snow, and gusts of upto 50mph with a wind chill factor of 0f.
Then I got the phone call.
The ferocity of the winter ?spat? in response to my proclamation has caused me a forfeit to be delivered from my New York ?friends? of either A) a bucket of snow down my pants or B) a slap upside the head. Being the expat I have no idea what a slap upside the head is. So here?s the question, which should I choose. A or B?
Awaiting your advice.
