607? 587? What does it matter
by IP_SEC inpersonally i believe that 607 is not the right date, but here is another point of view.. does 607 or 587 or 609 or 586 or 1914 really matter?
yes but only after you have a pivotal date.
5 starting from the pivotal date.

So, scholar emeritus, are you retired or holding an honorary status?
I?ve been waiting for someone to post the real 1914 Jdub answer and I still haven?t seen it. So here it is..
When we look at the signs concerning the last days that were Jesus? answer to his apostles, we have list of things to look out for which would distinguish that time apart from any other. One of which being war. 1914 was the first year of true global conflict. So we can safely say that 1914 was the start of the pangs of distress.
Now, whether you think that is true or a crock, is not my issue. However, it's the only argument that the scholarly or searching Jdubs can say and truly maintain honesty and belief.
This whole 70 year Seventh Day Adventists stuff should be knocked on the head. There is no, and will never be, Proof of existence of God and a messianic return of Christ.
As the great philosopher G. Michael said ?You Gotta Have Faith?.

I personally don?t think we should look down on AFIN, I think She(?) is providing a valuable service to this community.
Here?s a few of the comments made on SOJ?s post:
JTP: My only thought is, it's YOUR question and YOU are the only one capable of answering it.
RM: Above all else, be honest with yourself
KLS: I am really proud of your openness..
PD your crisis is a very spiritual thing. the choices you will make and what you learn from all this will determine how you will progress spiritually
WP: If you are being truly honest with yourself, and with us, perhaps your prayers are being answered
Scully: Whatever you decide, my wish for you is peace of mind and heartThere is NOTHING positive in this one. Just fear.
AFIN
Consider your life as it is today. Your worst day as a member of Jehovah's Witnesses is going to be better than any day as an apostate.
What hope is there outside of the organization???AFIN does more good than she(?) can possibly realize. I?ve started to believe that when AFIN posts she?s(?) trying to convince herself(?). I think there?s gonna be another existential crisis a? coming up.

Thanks for all the replies, so far I've see the possibility of ignoring apostate staements, but ignoring difficult questions is an excuse for sticking your fingers in your ears and saying 'nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah'. They all sound like difficult questions. I want an apostate question, because I don?t think they exist.
I mean, if we look at the discussions had here with two of the strongest advocates of the WTBTS?s teachings ? a friend in need and scholar, to give credit where credits due, they have answered our questions that the organization would describe as apostate questions. Any single question is not an Apostate Question.
An apostate can ask a question, but the question itself cannot be apostate, unlike a statement.
If you disagree with this, flee free to either respond or stick your fingers in your ears saying 'nah nah nah nah nah nah nah nah'.

After reading AlanF?s biography http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/9/86609/1.ashx something was niggling at me. He says, ?one of the Society's writers had read the questions and decided that at least one was an "apostate question"?.
This doesn?t seem possible to me, so I checked the definition of apostate at dictionary.com:
One who has abandoned one's religious faith, a political party, one's principles, or a cause
adj : not faithful to religion or party or cause n : a disloyal person who betrays or deserts his cause or religion or political party or friend etc. [syn: deserter, renegade, turncoat, recreant, ratter]Searching watchtower.org gave no worthy results so quotes.watchtower.ca (thanks again) gave me this:
Now, what will you do if you are confronted with apostate teaching?subtle reasonings?claiming that what you believe as one of Jehovah's Witnesses is not the truth?
Which is the closest WTBTS definition I?ve found so far.
What I have issue with is, Is it possible to have an ?Apostate Question??
I would appreciate some genuine ?apostate questions?. Not difficult to answer question, but, as what you think the WTBTS would define to be an apostate question.

I have a Dilemma ... would appreciate some advice....
by stevenyc inwell, it appears that i?m in a bit of a quandary and would appreciate any advice anyone could give.
two days ago i announced that spring had finally arrived to some fellow new yorkers.
they tried to convince me that on the north east coast, spring is never certain until summer is here, nonetheless i was adamant that, ?spring had indeed arrived?, and took on full responsibility for such a (now obvious) brash statement.. .

Well, being someone who is up for trying something new I went for the slap upside the head. Not too bad an experience, a little bit of a smart, a few stars, overall quite enjoyable.

I can categorically state that Croydon has to be the most ugly and pointless and cultureless place on the planet
Difficult to up that, but, let's try Crawley.
