This is what upsets me bout parents in the truth. Its supposed to me bout unconditional love and it is not. If my son chooses to be whatever in his life I will be there 100% to support him, even if he decides to become a JW after everything I have told him I will still back him up. Isnt that what parents do? Your daughters ex is not showing the greateast example if you drandaughter ever did want to join. es

The weird thing is I havent seen this elder for at least 2 years and I can barely remember what he looks like but in my dream he looked exactly as he did in real life.It was weird es

Question for those raised a JW
by New Worldly Translation ini was wondering if anybody feels like i do that if i hadn't been raised a jw i would never have embraced the religion.
i know it's easier to say in hindsight after i know the truth about the org but honestly i don't think i would have given them the time of day.
i'm not a religious person or even a spiritual person and being a jw always caused a conflict in my mind.

Did You Feel Superior To Those People Who Only Ever Came To The Memorial?
by Englishman inwe did.. we used to call them "memorial saints".
they were the fringe members, the fallen away, the disfellowshipped, those who had their own private pipeline to jehovah, bible studies, good-will, disinterested husbands, delinquent kids, prophets, lunatics and uncle tom cobley and all.. in short, all the weirdo's that could be mustered together on just one night of the year.
but it got the numbers up.

I guess I no longer feel hypocritical like the rest of them this was my fist year that i missed the memorial.

What would your conscience permit you to do that an average JW wouldn't do?
by JH in.
i didn't mind going to any bar, if i felt like it.

JWD Sign in. Were You a Dub When You First Came Here?
by xjw_b12 in.
seeing this is the 5th anniversary of jwd, i was curious as to how many who still post here, were dyed in the wool jws, but later sucumbed to "the truth about the truth" .
were an active/semi-active jw, and this site and others were enough to convince you that your doubts had substance.

I had already faded out when i came across this website. But it did give me the courage to send my D/A letter off, which then got dismissed coz the elders thought I was doing it to get back at my dad.(elder)
And the more I hop on the website the more convinced I am of that the "truth" should be called the "cult".

Counselling for depression......
by Jodo insorry, i don't want this to sound like a "woe is me" thread, but i just wanted to know of any positive or negative experiences with counselling....i've been offered it before but have put it off, and off (and off).
today i have a doctor's appointment and am going to request it......but i'm a little wary of the thought.

Hi Jodo,
Personally myself I found it great in helping with my depression. It was great to get perspective on a lot of things from someone who wasnt personally involved
Hope all goes well
