The one presiding overseer makes zero sense to me. I've only been around since 1988 and the P.O. controls the "life" of the congregation. He has it by the balls. Can't say if anything would change with a more "liberal" P.O.

WHY WAS THE ROTATION OF THE PRESIDING OVERSEER DISCONTINUED?
by juni inway back one man was the presiding overseer of the congregation.
then in the ' 70s they started the arrangement of the body of elders w/one being the po.
during this time they started w/the practice of rotating the entire boe so that each member would be serving in a different capacity - theocratic ministry school overseer, field overseer, literature overseer, secretary, etc.

Exodus 20:4,5 states:
4 “You must not make for yourself a carved image or a form like anything that is in the heavens above or that is on the earth underneath or that is in the waters under the earth. 5 You must not bow down to them nor be induced to serve them , because I Jehovah your God am a God exacting exclusive devotion, bringing punishment for the error of fathers upon sons, upon the third generation and upon the fourth generation, in the case of those who hate me;”
And yet, isn’t the organization treated as an equal to God? People serve it and fear leaving it because they are taught that by doing so they are turning their backs on Jehovah….that they are in fact LEAVING Jehovah. They “bow down” and are “induced to serve them” because they NEVER question anything they are taught…no matter how contrary to Jehovah’s word.

Has a brother ever screwed you?
by noontide ini was always very cautious with worldly people but of course i trusted everyone in the congregation 100%.
i trusted someone from the congregation with a business deal and got raked over the coals.
its a long and frustrating story, suffice it to say it cost me a lot of anguish, time and money.

I worked for three different “brothers” and was “screwed” over by each of them.
First was an elder that was going out of business and bounced two paychecks of all the brothers that worked for him. He said it was the banks fault. After ENORMOUS pressure from the cheated brothers the BOE of his congregation deleted him. The crooked brother NEVER admitted he had done anything wrong.
Next two “brothers” were partners. I worked different jobs for each of them. One cheated me by not paying taxes on my wages which he claimed he was doing. I quit working for him. Went to the elders, but they told me they couldn’t get involved…”Business is business.” Is what they told me.
Brother one also worked for brother two. He would follow me around on my route and try to get the “worldly” people to complain about the work I did. Some would even call “brother” two and complain about “brother” one’s tactics trying to defend me. Damn “worldly” people. Lol
When I talked to “brother” two he said that he needed “brother” one more than me. After nine months I got let go because I was causing divisions within the company. Actually I was trying to get other “brothers” to stand up for the situation they all knew was wrong. None of them stood up for me in fear of losing their jobs. The only one that did was the one “worldly” woman that worked for the company. -

Marion, thank you so very much for telling us your story it was a far better read than anything I have ever read from the so called personal experiences in the Awake magazine. I feel that I have known you for many years because of your marvelous writing skills.

Thanks Blondie,
At the meeting the comments were all "Keep your mouth shut." and "Wait on Jehovah to make things right." No mention of the FDS ever being wrong in anything that it has said. "The light gets brighter and brighter." "Elders are doing a fantastic job." from an elder's wife. "Be positive...be positive...be positive."
There was an uneasiness during the meeting...that was a positive sign to me. Hell maybe it was because they played the wrong song to start the public talk again.

NEED ADVICE ON FAKING A REINSTATEMENT
by Mary ina friend of mine who is df'd is seriously considering trying to get reinstated in order to have his family back in his life.
this is not an easy decision because he's fully aware that this isn't "the truth", but the pain of being excluded from normal family relations is really tearing him.
he has two choices: either move away from his family and try and start a new life, or bite the bullet, try and get reinstated and then do the fade.

Mary,
Your friend wants to have a normal relationship with his family if he has to fake a reinstatement so be it. It doesn't mean he has to kiss anyone's a**.
Why allow a petty organization to dictate family relationships? Your friend can do more good telling his family what he has learned from this site than staying away from a sham organization. Believe me the majority of those attending the meetings are the ones that need help from your friend.

And the other side of the coin is:
My son attended a party where everyone brought their own alcohol. Six were underage my son was not. Someone got to bragging, and they got called before the elders. The six all lied and said my son supplied the alcohol. My son was truthful from the start. Elders spoke to the six once again and they came clean...at least about the alcohol. The six were publicly reproved. Elders had called NY about my son, but were told not to reprove my son because he could sue because he did nothing illegal.
Now the fun part. After the meeting the families of the six all went out to eat pizza and MARKED my son. None of the kids or families ever spoke to my son, who left the truth just after the incident.
Nothing against all of you who jump up and down about sticking it to the organization because you were reproved. These six young "friends" and their familes are slugs . By the way 3 of them are MS'S now. Two are Pioneers.
