Beware of the internet......from the meeting last night
by JH inthey took 15 minutes to remind us of the dangers of the internet.
be careful to whom you chat with.
make sure it's with "good" jw your chatting with, they said.. what they didn't say was, where the heck do you go to chat with a jw online?

I have always felt that the internet will be the down fall of the borg,I expect to hear the GB come out and say that JW 's should not go online except for work or school related reasons some time soon, and make it some kind of sin to scare the sheep into submission. IT'S ALL ABOUT CONTROL
Don't think that the GB will stand by and watch their empire crumble.

lo and behold, someone doesn't think too highly of the ones who are looking for a mate!
just read the "general information" section.

I know of JWs that have met online on DBs similar to this. They have tried to conceal how they met because many elders will take away privileges from a brother especially.
I know a sister who was dating a brother who had just moved into the area. She called his old congregation elders to find out his status. They told him he was terrific. Smart woman, she checked the criminal records in that area and here he was a registered sex offender and the old congregation knew.
So....
Blondie
Blondie please tell me your kidding?
That is the most disrespectful and utterly cruel thing an elder can do, how was the elder showing love for the flock there? Protecting the weaker vessel? He did not need to slander the man just kindly direct the sister to where she could find the information and tell the sister the mans standing in the cong. This just make my blood boil! Once you are a registered sex offender you have been guilty by a jury of your peers and the authorities post such information to protect the public, it's not slander. The elder had a moral and ethical duty to advise the sister of this mans past.

Why should the society care where or how you met your mate? you would think that as long as the person is an active witness that would be sufficient, this shows once again the intense control they want over you. DL76

When it comes to 'talking it over with with G Hoover', I think I'm just as well off talking to the cat or to the spirit of my dead dog.
My sentiments exactly Dan-O
I remember as a kid laying in bed late at night praying and crying myself to sleep, asking Joe Hoba to open my heart and help me to believe and to do the right things inorder to please Joe Hoba and my parents. I was always looking for a sign that he had heard me, but of course it never came, I felt so alone and unloved by god, he seemed to hear everyone elses prayers at the hall,so I felt that all my wickedness was just to much for the lord and he could not and would not hear me.
I now know better. If praying makes you feel better than by all means do it, but it's not for everyone. I still have my weak moments when I break down and pray during a crisis, but never ever for myself, only for others, it can be soothing somehow under great stress or fear.

Was Anyone Reinstated But Felt Marked?
by love2Bworldly injust wondering if any of you experienced what i did years ago when i was reinstated.
although people were excited about my reinstatement and said things like "welcome home", i could tell when i would see people i used to be close to--that they still treated me differently, almost like i had a disease or something.
maybe it's because i was married to a non-jw and had a baby by then?.

Forgot to add a friend of mine committed adultery (they had been seperated a year) and confessed it to the elders and requested to be df'd but the elders didn't want to and told him so, even telling him at the end he could appeal the df. Would everybody get this kind of treatment? NO, my friends father was the PO.

The Watch Tower Printing Corporation is a book printing business. The Jehovah's Witnesses are the book distributors. They are unpaid employees. When they are disfellowshipped, they were just fired. It's really as simple as that.
garybuss,
That is the best description of the borg I have ever heard, a true gem I shall never forget.

What sin did you ever committ that you thought you never never would?
by littlerockguy inadultery (sexual relations with a married man); after all i was a prude as an active jw.
i never thought i would do such a thing.

I heard the apostafests/ meetups get pretty wild...
by love11 inwhat's been your experiences and would you go to one if they were in your area?
if you don't have any official gatherings for ex-jw's then what have you and your ex-jw friends done for fun?
hopefully curiousity doesn't kill this cat.

The second one, a few folks smoked pot out on the patio, and a few couples disappeared upstairs for a little while. It was very discreet, though... nothing you would have noticed if you weren't paying attention.
At the last one, one person had too much to drink, started becoming abusive, and had to be ejected. Aside from that, however, everything was pretty laid back; once again, some people discreetly went to a private room for whatever else they wanted to do.
Hmmm.... I wonder......... were these married couples? I mean married to each other. DL76
