  This past sunday's wt had a hilarious paragraph...

  i think it was paragraph 18 or right around there.. the gist of ithe paragraph was, "some will lose faith because our predictions failed, some of our stuff doesn't make sense, or someone treats us like crap".. the answers were just a riot.

  i couldn't help but wonder if some weren't faders.. "i remember when i started in the truth, i thought, this stuff is crazy, but i just knew it was the truth because where else could i go".

  "where else can we go" (i would like to point out that this is hardly a ringing endorsement).

  You hang out where there are alot of folks who have had it with the "friends". Naturally you are going to be an easy target for those who would like to say in anonymity what they are not allowed to say in person.

  Well I don't think anyone at the party would necessarily assume that my lack of one would be the result of a moral failing.

  Yeah I am being pissy though. Sorry Defd. You weren't picking a fight. I didn't mean to come at you like I did. A dub recently was running down all those churches that provide charity but no evangilizing. Those bastards feeding the hungry, clothing the naked. Sonsabitches. I still am annoyed by it.

  I am just tired of all the knocks on folks who are just as sincere (and often moreso) than any dub, but we have to run them down cuz they aren't in our group.

  I'll get back to the beam in my own eye.

  I just had a feeling I could expect a challenge to this assertion...

  The important thing to realize defd, is that we have to take responsibility for the messages we communicate. If a person misreads us, if we expect to be understood, we are obligated to clarify. Of course I never made it known that I interpreted these things that way. But that is not the point.

  The point is that I don't come over to them and turn their pages for them. I dont' hold their book for them. I don't point to the words and read it for them. If I did, it would be clearly communicating that I don't think they are capable of doing those things themselves. An adult is going to be a little annoyed by such things.

  Same deal dude. I know you can't see it that way because, you, like all of us process info through the filter of your world view. Your world view requires that no critical statement ever be true about your beloved organization. It also requires that you can't possibly admit that thoughts of superiority ever crept into your mind when you were offering your stuff to someone who didn't have it. I guess only you and God know the truth.

  "I am so good that I have my material just as I am ordered, and am able to offer it to this person who doesn't have theirs... hmmmm I really must be faithful"

  Not even for a fleeting second I am sure.

  I sure wish I was perfect like you. Maybe I need to follow the regimen and regulations of some group of imperfect men. All this faith in the sacrifice of a perfect Christ and the aid of a perfect Holy Spirit are just not enough.

  I have realized something recently. I can speed read most j-dub publications very easily. THe material is so dumbed down, that it is quite simple to skim the material and get the gist. Also so much of it is a rehash. I can skip whole paragraphs when I hear one of their stupid, standard arguments coming on.

  And then during the discussion, someone always chimes in with some point they all have heard a billion friggin times as if it is some new and insightful idea. Then they all nod their heads with like they just heard some profound new peice of knowledge.

  I scream inside my head, "THIS IS THE SAME CRAP I HAVE HEARD A MILLION TIMES, IT'S NOT NEW!!!!"

  But I digress.

  The point is I think I can read the wt article in about 1 or 2 minutes.

  I can knock out a chapter in the Daniel book in about 5 or so.

  Why is all this "solid food" such incredibly predictable, simplistic, rehash.

  Their "solid food" is really a bunch of nasty leftovers.

  Strange how dubs feel they need to police each other. Oops, am I off topic?

  No MJ, we are making fun of the jw here. This is completely on-topic.

  I always get annoyed when I don't have a songbook or a wt, and two or three always rush over to give me theirs... like I want the stupid thing. It is supposed to appear gracious but think of all it communicates.

  "You don't love God as much as me, I have my book, and you don't"

  "You need me to give you this stuff, since you don't love God, and forgot to bring yours"

  "You need it more then me. It is fine for me to be without a book, because I love God more than you"

  I am so sick of people treating me and my loved ones like children (especially my children!!!).

  Ever thought of going back...

  ...and raising hell?.

  i read a lot of experiences that so many went through while a jw...the judicial committee meetings, the verbal abuse from elders and pioneers, the intrusion into private matters, the list goes on and on.

  i haven't had to endure some of the terrible things that some have endured, though there was always the constant counsel about grooming, music, movies, cars, etc.. sometimes i think, knowing what i know now, that if i ever had to go back for whatever reason, i could really enjoy being a thorn in the side of many of the elders and over-righeous zealots.

  Actually when my wife completes her exit, I have every intention of persuading her to stick around as a mole. I want to work out the details and methods to implode a local congregation. Once I get it down... franchise it baby!

  I don't think I will ever leave the wt alone. EVER!

  I know so many feel that the right thing is to move on with your lives. On the other hand you have such a wealth of knowledge that could be invaluable to so many. What is that saying? Something about "the only thing needed for evil to succeed is for good folks to do nothing?"
