I can just see some of the zombies saying yes this is a sign of the end, in fact thats exactly what I heard from two zombies, Jdubs are so quick to place all bad things as signs the end is near. I just couldn't believe my ears when I heard them. No heart at all, and probable glee that the death of 6 billion plus people is near at least in their eyes. Buff

Gas Prices
by larc inwe have been informed in dayton that gas prices will go up by midnight by 4 dollars a gallon.
i hope this is another false alarm, but i am filling up in either case.

Yep here it goes, those who race to take advantage of the american people, yes the gas salesmen and of course others in the coming days will do thier part to rip and gouge the common man. I can't believe that anyone of them had to pay so much that it would cause them to raise gasoline prices up to $4.00 per gallon, I also hear rumors that the gas in Lawton Ok was $5.00 per gallon. Sheer bs I hope, if not this will economically wreck at lot of people who arent steeped in stockpiled money in some bank. Buff

Speculation on special October 7th meeting
by Seeker inwe have been discussing the special meeting being held in various locations on october 7th.
note, this is the day after the annual meeting, not part of the annual meeting itself.
reports have come in that certain individual congregations have been invited to attend.

I have several friends who have been invited, and I sure will be talking with them afterwards too. So any info I get I will be sure and post, what little I know so far is that, its no big deal, publishers only invited, there have been a lot of changes etc etc. So will wait and see what goes on. buff

Superficial People
by BugEye insuperficial people are a little like goldfish.. they have a 3 second memory.. once they have eaten their fill, they go looking for more.. they are generally a little stupid.. they have a 3 second memory.
life consists of looking around for the same thing all the time.. they are unaware of anything outside of their tank.. the world really does revolve around them.. they have a 3 second memory.. if you try to hold them, you will find them to be slippery little suckers.. you can have some fun with them for a while, watching them is fascinating.. they take work and effort to keep.. they often look attractive, but dont have anything inside.. they have a 3 second memory.. .

Judicial hearing notes
by roybatty inafter being disfellowshipped or disassociated, has anyone ever gone back and asked the local elders to destroy the meeting notes from the judicial hearing?
as a former elder, i know that meeting notes arent necessarily kept private and i dont particularly care that they are accessible to someone who is determined to see them.
just wondering if anyone else has been bothered by this and taken action.

Bendrr, I bet that they keep those notes, especially on adultery and other immoral practices to whet their appetites *sexual that is*, and go over them again and again, One would think that reading notes such as these would be in itself a form of pornography. I wonder if they keep a supply of baby oil in the secretarys filing cabinet with the notes on adultery, masturbation (female), etc.???? They probably do this just to keep their grip on things at the hall. Buff

Vietnam, yeah I remember it, I had three tours of duty there. I to want to cry when I think of all the dead left behind, both American and Vietnamese. I hated the hippies, stayed away from them because I knew if they f***** with me they would be in la la land, and I would be at Alcatraz U so to speak. It will be something thats always just there in the back of my mind, I was a loner when I grew up and that paid off with dividends in Nam, I didn't grow attached to anyone, and in fact seldom if ever even talked to anyone. I didn't need them, and didn't want them relying on me to be thier friend. In fact after awhile on the first tour, met a high schoold buddy from home and he later told me that I scared the sh** out of him just looking at him.
I served with units of the 4th Infantry Division, 1st Infantry Division, 101 AirBorne, and 144 avaiation company. Been there done that and don't have any dreams about it, have only mentioned Vietnam once or twice since leaving there, In fact my sister recently told my nephew 30yrs old, who was curious about Vietnam and what went on there to not talk with me about it, because I had never talked about it with anyone from home or for that matter from anywhere else. My favorite saying back then was that I was in fact that I was the "quick, and charlie was the dead" had super quick hands and reflexes then, still do to a degree. Well enough of that, thats more than what I wanted to say about it anyway. Buff -

i remeber a time back in Vietnam mid 60s when I encountered a sign on some artillery shells just waiting for a chance to be shot a charlie. On the shells was painted from us to charlie with no love. Funniest thing I seen in vietnam involved a cobra, next funniest was a little hut alongside a road made out of mashed coors beer cans. Coors beer in Vietnam, that must have been a miracle. Buff

Can you be DF'd for obesity?
by cosmo inif jw's can be(or should i say are) df'd for smoking, why aren't people df'd for obesity.. it seems they say that you are violating your body and hurting it from smoking but i've never seen a person live over the age of 80 that was obese.
just seems like being obese is worse than smoking.

Sorry I so late in responding but the incidence of death among active smokers isn't raised or lowered by secondary smoking, that was my post not kids catch this or kids catch that. We did massive spring cleaning where I grew up too, and my father, mother, and older brother and sisters smoked we didn't have yellow walls either. you are entitled to you view and glad that you are, but if the incidence of killing people was so prominent, then the smoker who gets both of the effects of smoking would be doubly affected don't you think? klWell enough off to work i go. buff
Tina you mentioned that obesity causes somethings to include diabetes, my wife has diabetes isn't obese as is most in her family. Do to many visits with drs. and clinics (i.e. diabetic clinics) we have been told time and time again the diabetes is herediatry, you don't get it you are born with the genes etc that cause it.
